Looking at the draft boards I think a DE in round 1 is likely... And it wouldn't surprise me to see a CB taken in round 2.

I would like to see a defense heavy draft. No trading up, just bodies from big programs for the first 4 rounds.

it really baffles me that this team is so inept in evaluating pass rushers. They hit on Dware and that's about it in 20+ years

Eh. Against that OL, it's understandable. He isn't an all pro and likely never will be.

He made a play at the end, the ref just didn't throw the flag and it may have cost us the game.

Probably because they keep changing schemes.

thats definately part of it, but you would think they would luck into a legit pass rusher or two at some point.

This is all on Marinelli claiming that he doesn't need big time talent. The last time he had a good defense, he had Julius Peppers, Brian Urlacher, and Charles Tillman.

As fortunate as we've been in the OL department, we've been just as unfortunate in DL

Given the amount of picks thrown at the positions, DL and secondary, especially CBs, are our weak spots for acquiring talent (outside of this year with Collins and Brown).

To me, it seems that we tend to miss a lot more at those positions than others.

Well it's not like they haven't tried... Two 2nd round picks and a high-priced DE (Hardy).

Sometimes things work out and sometimes they don't.

Hardy probably got DLaw 8 sacks..

Idk why. He was held most of the game. Hard to break free when your jersey has a tight grip on it. Heck on the 3rd and 20 he was grabbed from behind and thrown to the ground. Yet, of course, the officials didn't see it.
