Hawkins has to still be the clear favorite. It's gotta come down to Hawkins vs. Smith (if they want a wr vs db still) or Hawkins and holley.

Holley dropped like 4 balls during "control the clock".

Washington is absolute garbage. I really feel I could do a much better job then him and I already know for a fact the cowboys dont need me lol. He just is horrible. He is advertised as a "track guy" so you'd assume he is a burner... apparently he was a beast at mid-distance. Ran a 1:48 800m ( its a meet record still) But he isn't on the same page with Hawkins speed wise. To totally different styles of fast.

Holly could have cemented hinself as the #1 guy if he would have made 2 or 3 more tough catches.Hawk is my #1 guy at this point, but Holly is in the mix for top 2. Those two are the only two guys, IMHO, that have anything to offer the Boys in camp.

Oh I agree.

They should have gotten a better qb, the Qb is the reason Gonzalez is gone his passes were TERRIBLE. Hawkins and Holley had db's beat on go routes a couple times tonight that were horribly underthrown.

Holley dropped some EASY passes though. Hawkins made some great sideline catches and the td's were great. Holley has the size but he is too raw. I'd rather Hawkins make it to give our db's some practice against small speedy wr's in training camp(like a certain D.Jackson, and S.Moss who are in our division). Even if he gets cut after a few preseason games, the reps he'd give our DB's would be more than worth it.

Just my 2 cents.

I'll be very surprised if Hawkins doesn't win.

This may be a repost, but for those interested, here are his pro day numbers...

5'7

10yd - 1.53
20yd - 2.52
40yd - 4.34

Bench - 9 times

If he does win, it will be interesting to find out what kind of arrangement the show and/or the Cowboys had with the Montreal Alouettes. Hawkins had already signed with them before being chosen for the show. And he's still on their team, listed as a backup. He played sparingly during their preseason and didn't post any stats in their opening game last week (I don't even know if he played at all). It's possible that there's some type of arrangement to allow Hawkins to practice with the Alouettes but not play during their regular season before he goes to training camp with us. (If he doesn't make our team, they'd still have about half of their season left.) Or, maybe he doesn't win the show and isn't even good enough to start in the CFL. (And before anyone else says it, yes, it's also possible that he does win the show and still isn't good enough to start in the CFL.)

Much like American Idol, there's contenders and pretenders.

Hawkins and Holley are the clear favorites. None of the DB's are that great. In order, I think they gut cut Washington first (stiff hips, not that fast for a track guy), Moten (injuries, attitude), Smith (takes a few too many chances).

The WR's have owned the DB's the entire show.

So...how do we know that Hawkins and Holley are TRUE favorites, if the DBs they're showing against are so horrible?

If you are going to cut a guy in a 1-1 drill at least get a QB who can knows how to play football. That guy was inaccurate, late and just plain sucked. Neither WR had much of a chance in that competition.

I was so frusturated with Jones. Because of him dropping a couple of passes he allowed that loser Washington to continue on. That friggen guy has skated by on other people's mistakes this whole time. I'm sick of seeing him out there.

'4th and Long' -- Goodbye to the 'weed and women' man

Barry Horn/Reporter E-mail News tips

I don't know Montrell Jones nor do I know the specifics of his past problems. That said, it would have been impossible for Michael Irvin to deliver to the Cowboys an 80th man who claimed he was not already in the NFL because of "weed and women."

Given Irvin's past transgressions coupled with the Cowboys desire to clean up their locker room. Jones never had a chance.

For Jones to have been sent to San Antonio, he would have had to be a combination of Terrell Owens, Bob Hayes and Drew Pearson. Irvin cut Jones on Monday night for his play on the field but Montrell could never have been the player sent to Jerry.

A team's No. 1 player can have problems with "weed and women." So too can players who are vital to the cause. But those on the bottom of the roster had better be squeaky clean. Redemption is an honorable concept but the 10th and final episode of '4th and Long' could never have been the time and place.

Five players remain from the original dozen.

This show may be the worst thing on television. Anybody who thinks one of these guys will actually make the practice squad has sniffed a little too much glue.
:banghead:

1. Why does the qb wear full pads and a helmet? There is no defensive rush, he is not trying out for qb.

2. Why does michael irvin wear a headset when he is "coaching"? Is there someone in the booth he is talking to or is he just listening to music.

3. Jerry Jones "Find me a ballplayer".If anyone was serious about the "player" that comes out, don't you think they would have scheduled the show where he could be at the rookie mini camps and OTA's?

4. Playbooks? really? I dont think anything needs to be said here.

5. You might play for somebody, but dallas can't use you. So, he can't make it on a trumped up, dramatized reality tv show but maybe some scouts were watching the show hoping to get some clues on dallas' plays and want to give him a chance. C'mon!

I caught these things after watching one episode. No telling what stupidities go on on all the episodes, i really hope this doesnt get picked up for another season.

For people that have watched the show, post something you thought was Real Stupid or Trumped up. This could be funny!

You must not watch very much TV.

I have enjoyed all the shows and look forward to the new ones. My only issue so far is the DBs holding all the time. What was funny is Irvin and the coaches making fun of Jones for being on the bike during the film part.

Does Barry Horn follow the NFL at all? Fringe guys with off-the-field problems in their past are given chances all of the time.

I do? Funny. I don't recall saying I was angry or feeling angry at all. Just frusturated and tired of seeing that sack of crap on the show.

Pretty much sums it up for me.

It looks like just another sorry reality show to me, only this time with a football background. But it still has all the cookie cutter crapola camera angles and over the top melodrama.

Which speaking of that, one of the many ridiculous things on there is when player x gets cut and proclaims to the world that this won't stop him and he knows he's about to make it in the NFL. (Or worse, the Cowboys.) Hey dude, you didn't just miss the final cuts of an NFL team. You got kicked off a freaking reality show.

Now that said, I've watched so little of it that I've barely seen Hawkins. Maybe he or one other guy is borderline fringe NFL-talented. But the vast majority of them are scrub city.

I know everyone says the winner doesn't have a chance to make the team but if Hawkins can return punts at a high level he might find himself a roster spot.

Holley is playing good but nobody is on Hawkins level. Its not even close.

So if he doesn't win it is because of his height.
