If you read the article he took a really roundabout path to making that list. All he looked at was QB, RB, OL, and TE.

However-there are key areas where these teams' depths are in big question. For example-the Eagles have pretty thin depth on the OL(Max Jean-Gilles struggles in pass protection, Jamaal Jackson is irreplaceable, and Winston Justice stinks), plus their OTs are getting old too.

BTW-do the Bucs even have a DL to begin with? So how can they even have depth here?

This is a joke right.
Skins at 4. With Demetric Evans as back up DE, Fabini and Wade as back ups, ummm what about LB and Safety positions.

And not to mention too the Eagles' backup CB is disgruntled and unhappy.

To be honest I would take Brad Johnson over Todd Collins..
Collins was only good in Saunders offense, his whole career he has sat the bench. At his age I dont see him being able to step in with a new West Coast System and do what he did last year.

RB........yeah right Portis is ok, but Betts....Mr Fumbleitis Betts, and the Skins have no OL depth.

Oh no?

Despite losing Jansen and Thomas in weeks 1 and 2 respectively, the Commanders surrendered 29 sacks -- only 4 more then Dallas' entirely healthy line.

And they added a 3rd round draft pick in Chris Rinehart. So how exactly do they lack depth?

Well Chad is unproven

But you guys have Fabini 38(jets, cowboy cast off)
Todd Wade 31
Jansen 31
samuels 30
Thomas 31
Kendall 35
Rabach 30

If you guys have Fabini and Wade as your back ups then your depth must not be that good, a couple years ago when we had Fabini alot of Skins fans were laughing because most of you felt he was washed up.

Well, Fabini played extensively at guard last year, and did an ok job. For a back up, at guard, I'll take him. Thomas is a lot better. But the back-ups did a good job. You also forgot about Stephon Heyer, who filled in admirably for Jansen.

You can argue that they don't have depth, but the numbers say otherwise.

Newsflash: Your backups most likely will not be all pros

Where the Commanders lack depth is at linebacker and corner, until McIntosh and Rogers prove themselves to be healthy again

The o-line is plenty deep, even with age

Portis, Betts> Barber, and Felix Jones (an unproven rookie if you choose to make that argument)

WR's and TE's remains to be seen with how the rookies perform

d-line- There are 2 very nice 3 man rotations at both DT and DE

Is it stacked with all pro guys? Nope, but it is guys who can come in and get the job done for a short period. It becomes a problem when you lose the entire side of the o-line for the season, or 2 DE's go down the first day of camp, or you have one DB tear out his knee and then another DB killed

This wasn't worth the time it took to read, let alone write.

He evaluated QB depth first and eliminated 18 teams from the get go. Even if they had better depth at every other position on their team than anyone else in the NFL, they would have been eliminated. How does Minnesota make it through round 1? They have no starting QB and Gus Frerotte as their backup. He came into the league in 1994 when Brad Johnson did, yet he is an able bodied QB while Johnson is not? Brad Johnson betters him in almost every statistical category, has a Superbowl ring and even threw a TD pass to himself. What has Frerotte done other than sprain his neck via :banghead: ?

This article is very misleading. It is important to make note that most people include starters as part of the team's depth. Kirwan didn't include starters in his assessment of depth.

I would disagree with several of the players he presents as quality back-ups but Im not overly concerned the Boys aren't included in this list of non-starter depth. I'm comfortable with them being Top 5 in overall team depth that includes the starters.

Vikings at #1? Did he forget about their QB-starting I mean? I would take Brad johnson over Tavaris Jackson. Defenses should line up with 9 in the box to stop Peterson until jackson proves he can do something. Just my opinion

that's a pretty big problem to have.

The o-line is plenty deep, even with age

none of them are under 30.they'll wear down quite a bit.

Portis, Betts> Barber, and Felix Jones (an unproven rookie if you choose to make that argument)

Portis ran well against weak teams and Betts has a fumbling problem. I'd much rather have Barber and an unproven rookie with tons of potential any day of the week.

WR's and TE's remains to be seen with how the rookies perform

how can they perform well if you don't have a QB that can throw?

d-line- There are 2 very nice 3 man rotations at both DT and DE

we need names. I can't think of anyone important...

I'd rather be stacked with guys that can get the job done for a long period of time.

Isn't it interesting that not a single one of those teams has been picked by anybody to have a shot at the SB. Where are the Pats, the Colts, the Chargers. Can understand why a Skin fan thinks this list is just wonderful. Sure hope you around later in the regular season to discuss this list again.

Actually I don't. That means we had to use the depth, which means lots of injuries

Had enough of that last year
