i finally went trendy today and gave them a shot.

the burger was under-seasoned, the grilled onions were tasteless, the bun soggy and they were about the worst fries i've ever had in my life. to think $3 for a "small" order was about 1lb of soggy-fries that tasted like what you think wall paste would taste like.

and it was just under $12.

first and last trip, all at once.

agreed on the fries. But every burger I have had there has been pretty good. Maybe you got a bad cook.

it was "ok" but didn't live up to the hype itself. certainly not worth the $6+ just for the burger alone.

$12 for fast food. Good grief.

well to be fair, they do give you free peanuts while you wait for the crap.

There is an overall trend of restarurants charging $10-12 for a burger. To me, that's just insane. Even for wimpy burgers, like at Red Robin.

my favorite places for burgers:
1) Twisted Root - Dallas (Deep Ellum)
2) Ted's Montana Grill - all over USA
3) Small place in a strip mall near my house - not even sure what the name of it is. It's run by a Muslim guy that only cooks with Halal beef. Only 2 tables in the whole place.

yea, fudruckers and other "burger" places just lose me. we finally got an in-and-out burger place in dallas and i hate it. i never understood the hype there as well but at least it wasn't outlandish in $.

there's a place in carrollton that a friend used to go to on his way over here to pick up some "mexican" burgers that were fantastic. yea, it was a "hole in the wall" to be sure but they had some of the best burgers around. i think it was off belt-line but i can't be sure.

Red Robin is pretty good for a chain place. My burgers have always been cooked well and I like the steak fries they serve.

Agree with you here. I do not like In N Out.

The burgers are OK, but for the price, I agree there are much better burgers available. The fries are better if you request the Cajun seasoning. I don't know where everyone is located, but there is a restaurant chain growing in the southeast called Cookout. Best. Burgers. Ever. It's like having 4th of July, fresh off the grill burgers everyday. And very affordable.

Yeah we have one about 15 minutes away, pretty cheap too. You can get a lot for your money. Plus they have like 1,000 milk shakes. You don't get charged extra either if you choose a shake for your drink.

One of these joints opened near here a couple weeks ago. Everybody raving about it. Happened to come down out of the hills last weekend and swung by to check it out. Placed was packed with a line around the corner. Ain't no burger worth that.

I like Fuddruckers and Red Robin. They have good Turkey burgers and their a decent size. I tend to go without the fries, tho. I'm not a big fan of steak fries. I like thin fries.

The problem with places like Five Guys, In n Out (haven't had either), and Smashburger is their burgers generally aren't much better than places like Whataburger and some other local joints. They're ok, but not necessarily worth the price.

I've spent $10 on a salad, but it was one of those places where they have different kinds of lettuce mixes and you can put as many toppings on it as you want.
