5 Guys Hamburgers and Fries

You must've went to the bootleg "6 Guys" or something...sounds horrible.

I go to Five Guys and it's always delicious.

like, I saw this subject line and my mouth watered. That's how much I love Five Guys.

You may have had a bad experiance or their hamburgers aren't your style, but they're my favorite hamburger joint. Whenever I make a 5 Guys lunch run the majority of my office jumps at the chance to get lunch there. Luckily I can order online as the line is out the door during lunch time.

You're probably right about the fries. I don't generally eat fries from anywhere because I'm not a big fan of potatoes of any kind, so I can't say if they're good or not.

 this irishman doesn't approve :D

Agree with you here. I do not like In N Out.

You must have asked for monster sauce :laugh1:

I had the opposite experience at 5 Guys.....fried were great...burger was ok

Not worth the price

likely just not my style. they seemed flattened out and that takes out a lot of the juices. just doesn't seem like a $6 burger to me.

I've been to a couple and had one that was great and one that was very mediocre. So, I guess in my experience they're pretty hit and miss.

I like 5 guys and generally they are pretty good.

I will never step foot in a Red Robin again. Those and Cook-out burgers are among the worst I have ever had. The absolute worst is the burgers that my Aunt makes, I will eat everything but the burgers when we go over there.

Had an amazing burger in Vegas though. I will get that everytime I go and ignore the price. It was worth it.

LMAO...Okay, I will admit my mom makes the best mashed potatoes ever. I'll eat 10 lbs of her potatoes, but I don't think I've had her mashed potatoes in 20 years. Maybe she spoiled me and every other potato dish has disappointed me. :)

We have a couple independents around here who make a pretty darned good burger.

But saying that, and I know I'm going to get flamed for it (or is it fried?)...

But there are times when I just luv me a couple McD's cheeseburgers and a large order of fries. Just really enjoy those cheap cheeseburgers and McD's fries are tough to beat.

What's it set me back? About $5? And worth every penny. :)

The fact that you said "darned" pisses me off...

Who are you to circumvent our filter...

Your perfect life pisses us all off... ;)

Hey being teacher's pet has some perks. :D

rainbow grill in carrolton tx rocks. very good hamburger and home made chips.

i like it, but it is expensive. one place that you wouldnt necessarily think of as having a good burger that does is, Bonefish Grill. not sure if that is nationwide, but if you get a chance i would recommend it.

The food is good (not great, but good); the prices are high.

If you take a person with you and pick up the tab it is over 20 bucks. Two burgers, one order of fries (they serve unusually big portions) and a couple of soft drinks .. nothing extravagant ... is over 20 bucks.

I like it just fine and go maybe once every 3 or 4 months, but there are other places (family run places), that I like more and that offer better value.

.... I don't really understand the boutique burger prices, but then there are many things I don't understand (e.g., buying bottled water).

The original Five Guys was started in my hometown in Virginia, I've had it a dozen times, like a previous poster said, it's good every 3-4 months. It also depends on who's cooking, I've had some great burgers, and ive had some very bad ones.

If you get the Cajun fries they are usually a little more crispy

I've only been once, but I wasn't impressed enough to go again.

There are a couple of places up here that I really enjoy on a regular basis. The first one is a place called Burgermaster in Bellevue. The second one is a place called Herfy's in Snoqualmie. Both are delicious and much better than Five Guys, IMO.

It's all a matter of personal tastes. We used to hit the original Five Guys locations in Alexandria and Springfield a fair amount back when we lived in VA. The burgers were good, but the fries always stunk. I've seen a few other suggestions on good burgers on the thread, but I can't say that I personally like any of the suggestions better than Five Guys and even found myself thinking Red Robin was terrible.

I am going to try "Smash Burger" this week since they just opened one up a few miles away. Never had it before, but I am looking forward to it.

For Nashville:

Best Vegetarian burger - the Black bean and jalepeno burger from Bobbie's Dairy Dip

Best Beefalo burger - from Cheeseburger Charley's

Best Bison Burger - from Jackson's (Burger Up is a close second).

Did not live to hype: Rotier's famous Cheeseburger on French bread (apparently this song inspired Jimmy Buffett's "Cheeseburger in Paradise" but who knows)

**

Five Guys is okay, but I rather visit the local establishments for tasty burgers and sweet potato fries than Five Guys.
