3 of the 4 games the Cowboys have lost this year have been by a total of 5 points. A one point loss to both the Lions and Chiefs, and a FG to lose against the Broncos.

It stands to reason that the team cannot win close games. Whether that's on the defense, the offense, Romo or Garrett, I don't know. Maybe all of them.

I do know that whenever Dallas is in a close game, I expect them to lose in heart breaking fashion. The inability to win close games is the reason the Cowboys have been one of the most disappointing franchises over the last decade-plus. It's become ingrained in the culture of the franchise, and now the fanbase.

I'm still not jumping ship... The story for this season has yet to be written... The good news is we are still very much in control of our division... And if we make the playoffs, then anything could happen...

Obviously we're all disappointed with how the season has gone so far, but there's not a team in the NFL that we should fear... I know it's dumb to think that anything will change because this team looks just as lost as they have since 2006, but on the other hand, it's also kind of dumb to think that a team/QB as good as ours wont ever find success...

The 2011 Dallas Mavericks are a good example of what this team could still become... I'm still very optimistic...

We need Ware, for whatever he can contribute, Murray, and yes even Wilcox back as I think he has shown some good instincts on pass defense when the ball is in the air

This team just doesn't have it, and they never will. You could have told me the outcome of this game and I wouldn't have been surprised 5 years ago or 5 years from now. They're just destined to be an 8-8 team...this is the 0.500 Era of Cowboys Football. We just have to get used to it

we knew the problems with our defense, so our game plan should be to use our offense to outscore opposing offense. not play close games and try to ocme out on top. When defense gives you 4 TO, this game should not have been this close

But on the other hand when the defense gives up over 600 yards it probably shouldn't have been this close either.

Excellent post. I think close game losses have a lot to do with the head coach.

This is the mark of a dimwitted coach.

Shhh... Do not be optimistic around here.

There has been some serious overreactions on the board. People need to chill and hope for the best and cheer for them to fix the problems. Now some genius is going to say "OP says its a process" or "drinking to kool aide".
trust me, we all see the same thing. This team is fortunate to be where they are (NFC E) and there are many games yet to win.
I honestly have no idea how some of these guys can be so negative. This loss hurts but get over it and cheer for them against the Vikings.
If all else fails, just think about the truth. there are a roster of Cowboy players, a whole coaching staff, Cheer leaders and ground keepers that work for this team and not one of them gives a damn about you.
No need to get too fired up. Life goes on and there is still a very likely shot of making the playoffs and we all know, anything goes ones you get in.

It can change but its going to take some suffering to do it. To me its obvious that what this team is suffering from is a problem of leadership. Garrett doesn't lead, Romo doesn't lead, Ware doesn't lead, Witten doesn't lead. Dez could lead but he doesn't do it in a receptable way. I'm becoming more and more convinced that we are not going to win until we break from this core and don't get me wrong I love these guys. All of them are super talented players but they don't lead and that's what we need from our veteran group. Hatcher is a leader and has been leading and look how well his unit is doing, with little natural talent. We need guys with talent AND passion, a passion for winning. They should be 100x more miserable than I am right now when the team loses because it is their job to win but the only one I see not just giving lip service is Dez Bryant. For this team to win we are going to have to weed out all the guys on this team that are not 100% devoted to winning and playing with a passion and stepping up and seizing the moment and get rid of them. All of them. From the head coach all the way down and this includes our very pricey veteran core that we all love so much. As much as I love those guys, I love winning more and I would be more than willing to suffer a bad season next year without them if it meant that we would develop some leaders on this team and win it all a few years down the line.

Edit: Don't misunderstand. I haven't given up on the season but if I were Jerry I'd be paying real close attention to the way all these players and coaches behave from this point on. Fat trimming time might be coming real soon

I have been optimistic for a long time. As of today, I'm almost used up. I can't see this team being any better than 7-9 or 8-8 at the moment. Maybe I'll feel better in a day or two, but right now, I'm not even convinced they'll beat Minnesota at home next week. Isn't Adrian Peterson due for a breakout game?

If thats how you feel, fine. I imagine nobody will stop you if you leave. Im positive that JJ wont be blowing your phone up asking you to get back on board.

Just dont let it take so much outta ya.

No, I'm not leaving. I love this team. That's why I hurt so bad right now. I want nothing more to be wrong and see this team end up 10-6 or better.

It is what it is.
I was fuming there for a while. While I love this team, I have much larger matters in my life than how good the Dallas Cowboys are doing.

These losses really don't stick anymore. We have seen this ending too many times. Dallas finds itself in a close game, there really isn't much advantage with this particular cast in place.

I fully expect a win next week followed by a stomping at the hands of New Orleans. Right on schedule at 5-5. Not that it's a bad thing. Just expected.

That's why Dez snapped on all of them today. No leadership,no aggressiveness,no pride in defending the Cowboys name.Maybe they'll get off their duff now
and quit being a meek, laughing stock of a team.

The players fought.

The coach neutered them at the end.

He will always take the ball out of Romo and Dez's hands and give it to backup running backs. That way no one blames the coach if a pass goes awry

In this league you need to be good on the line on both sides of the football. You have to be good in the trenches. For whatever reason Demarco is the only back that has had success with this team's run blocking and whether or not Ware is still hurt him even injured is the best pass rusher on this team. Both of those guys coming back if they truly come back are something to look forward to.
