1. We have great versatility in our run game.
Meaning, we can run the ball on outside zone and inside zone plays with both EE and Morris. We were confined to inside zone runs with DMC (who did run them very well). We can also run the ball to the left with Tyron and Collins or to the right with Zack and Free. This is what we had in 2014 that was so valuable and why Murray broke the NFL record of most 100 yard rushing performances in a row to start a season.
We also have both EE and Morris so we can keep them fresh. The historical data on 2 RB systems show that you want to use the faster runner more in the 2nd half over the bruising runner. Hopefully Garrett and company are aware of that. Obviously, EE isn't a scat-back, but he's got much more speed than Morris.
2. We can finally run the ball effective out of the shotgun
At least with EE we can. It also helps that Dak has legit running ability as well. EE has the speed to get more east and west and then turn up field which, IMO, is what is needed to run effectively out of the shotgun. I don't believe the read option is flawless as those moronic Skins fans tried to tell us years ago, but I do believe it is still a viable offense in the NFL that can...if done at the right time with the right personnel...can make the opposing defenses' job harder and the QB's job easier. With the RPO and EE's ability to run out of the shotgun effectively since that is what he did in college, it just makes our run game even more versatile.
3. The screen passing game
I believe we'll be much improved with the screen passes under Dak, if not a really darn good screen passing game. This means a lot of easy plays where we gain valuable yardage and making the opponent a bit gun shy about blitzing.
4. The mismatches our wide receivers cause.
Dez is just a world class athlete that causes mismatches for any team. Beasley is a matchup problem in the slot for teams. I'm not overly nutty about T-Will, but I don't hate the player either. I think he's a player that tends to fair well against the majority of #2 CB's and almost all #3 CB's. And Butler I think has the ability and speed to also eat up a lot of #2 CB's and almost all #3 CB's.
Over the years we've seen teams put their #2 CB and a safety to cover Dez and then their #1 CB on T-Will. I think if Butler looks as good as he did in preseason (and can stay healthy), this may disturb what the opposing D-Coordinators may try to do. And with the run game and Beasley underneath, we could eat up defenses rather efficiently.
5. Short yardage and goal line offense
Much more versatility in the run game instead of being restricted to inside zone runs. I think EE will be a good short yardage runner and Morris has always been a quality short yardage back. We also have Dak who can not only run, but should be a better option on QB sneaks. And I also like how well Dak was throwing the fades and back shoulder throws.
