News: 5 Winners and Losers

I'm all for bringing Sean Lee back. He sets an example on and off the field..............and he's our best LB.
Lee is always in position to make the tackle.

The problem is, he doesn't always make the tackle.

Jaylon Smith is never in position to make the tackle, and rarely gets there in time despite his speed.

Malik Collins has played sporadically. At times he is dominant.

Agree that la'el was a huge huge winner but disagree that he was our best offensive lineman.

Zack Martin had an incredibly under-rated year. Didn't miss a single snap, allowed zero sacks, only 2 penalties, and is the highest rated cowboys player on PFF

He's a lock for the all-pro team
I would, if Frederick can come back a little better, like to see Collins, Martin, Frederick, Looney, and Smith with us drafting a new replacement for Smith asap.

That would be a good line-up. Especially with a healthy McGovern battling Looney in training camp for the LG spot (see what he's got in the tank).

Would be down to draft a highend tackle but I think Tyron has some gas in the tank.

Reality is if it wasn't for a fluke injury (Prescott crashing into his anke), this would of been the most healthy Tyron has been since 2016.

I think his health is moderately exagerrated. People where claiming his demise in 2017 and then he went and had a BETTER season in 2018. People where still claiming his demise this off-season and fluke injury aside this was the most healthy he's been since 2016. Not saying we shouldn't groom someone now but he's gonna be our starter for the foreseeable future

He's still our best LB and in a defense needing a lot of help, he's not the guy you want to try to replace. ...........particularly with uncertainty around LVE.

The biggest loser is Jerry Jones. But only he doesn't see it that way.
Jones isn't going to fire himself.

Reality. Can he improve? Possibly. Never forget he was smart enough to hire Jimmy and smart enough to hire Parcells and give him almost total control of the process.

Hiring Jimmy was a fluke b/c Jimmy was also one of the few guys he knew in football. They were college teammates.

Winner- Ben Bloom. Not even qualifies to coach pop warner yet Jerry has him coaching LB'rs.
Losers- The entire Linebacking corps.

We can continue this for many of the under qualified coaches Jerry put in place.

I hadn't even considered that b/c i focused on Richard and Marinelli. But, anyone who coached the Lbs this year needs to go. My hope is that Jerry at least hires a coach with deep connections to improve the entire quality of this staff.

Bloom just seemed like a bad fit with the others. The ST Coach OQuinn is the guy that should never draw an NFL paycheck above hot dog vendor ever again.

The biggest loser is the fans.

Going 8-8 drove them to expose themselves as demanding frauds that are the most Diva version of any fanhood in the league.
Turned on the guys who fought hardest to be members of the Cowboys.
Witten, DLaw, Jaylon?? These are the guys you wanna roast nonstop?? ROFL.
A Hall of Famer and the core of your defense for the next 5 years?

Yea he's another winner who took advantage of old man jerry and the losers were the entire team along with us fans.

Speaking of Gallup, how many drops for him this year? Reminds me of Alvin Harper. Can’t make the routine catch, but can make the acrobatic highlight catches with ease.
He dropped some, but I didn't see it anywhere near as bad as Harper. Harper's catch % was routinely 40-45%, even after several years in the NFL where experience should have helped. Gallup was at 58.4%, and may still get better. 58.4% isn't stellar, but it is still in line with such notable receivers as Mike Evans (56.8%), Jarvis Landry (60.1%), and Julio Jones (63.1%).

Obviously more possession type receivers like Edelman will have a notably higher catch %, but they also have a notably lower yards per catch ratio. The question is, where is the breakover point where catch% overrides yards per catch, and where yards per catch overrides catch %.

Harper was never remotely a #1 level receiver, and while as things sit today, Gallup may fall a little short of being an ideal #1, he is at least in the neighborhood of it, and with just 2 years under his belt he may still get better.

Good point, it also seemed like Gallup caught everything in the short and intermediate routes and the drops came on deep routes that are low percentage plays anyway. Gallup took a big step forward this year, he could do the same thing next season as well.

The real key if someone wanted to compare him to Harper is that he had similar deep ball ability as Harper, but was much better at the short and intermediate routes. Gallup is more of an all around receiver, whereas Harper was a specialty act.
