Yes, for 15. Many times. In real time, Taylor's head twisting looked more violent than what it was and it was that motion that resulted in the 15 yard call. Will most every time at most every level of football.

If you say so. In real time it looked basically like a headslap. But ok.

it was a head slap...Davis got a 15 yarder and he didn't deserve it...but from a far...it looked like a 15 yarder...that is what a 15 yarder looks like......when the ball carrier's head gets ripped back and looks violent as all get out...Kosier gave Taylor a love tap....don't get me started if you think that was a 15 yard face mask......

Agreed. It's a judgement call, and Taylor's head did snap around. Nonetheless, I believe most NFL officials placed in that situation would have taken a page from the NBA refs handbook and swallowed their whistles on the last play of regulation, especially since the infraction happened at the beginning of the return (as opposed to the end).

Maybe so but as I said had the guys did their job we would be talking about Romo's throw to witten with 6 sec on the clock to setup with winning FG. Watching the replay I understand why the ref made the call so right now the only people I fault is our own. It was there for the taking and we flat out blew it. This team now has to find a way to put a loss like this behind them and move on.

If they did their job, the game probably isn't as close and coming down to the last play of the game.

Looked like a 15 yarder to me. Taylor's head got turned or pulled around. The bad thing wasn't the penalty as much as no one tackled him even though he back tracked quite a bit on the play.

His head definatly turned to the side but I didn't think it even slowed him down. He ran right through it which tells me that it was not a real hard face mask. I know that I have experienced that kind of thing before. I didn't think it was a 15 yarder but I can see how it was called as such. In the end, I agree with the point that it never should have been that close to begin with.

Parcells even said that it looked like the five yard variety.

On the head turning, (knowing the rules)all ball carriers are going to jerk their head sideways when a hand comes near their facemask to draw the 15, I would. The refs should do a better job on which are flagrant and which ones are incidental.

Head turning is what happens when someone grabs onto a metal bar that is strapped to your head....of course there is head turning.......just not violent enough to get 15 yards...everyone that has watched football for any extended period of time knows the difference between a 5 yarder and 15 yarder...there isn't a shot in hell that was a 15 yarder and i can't believe some people here can say it was.....how is that even on the same level as when Larry Johnson got his head almost ripped clear off by homeboy there that i can't remember his name....really good Canes CB...can't think of it...you know what i mean...not even close to the "15 yard variety"

And how many times do you see that happen in a season? I see the same kind of face mask quite often that occured in the Dallas game and it is almost always flagged for 15.

Kosier shouldn't have let go. Period. The smart play there is just taking the 15.
This really is true. All he had to do was drag him to the ground and force them to try a hail mary. By letting go he enabled a judgment call and ST to keep running. I'd have brought him down once I had the mask and knew a flag was coming anyway.

It's a judgement call. Had it been called 5, Egghead Jr. would have been driving the tape up to the league office personally calling for heads.

Just unfortunate is all but to me, I didn't believe it was 15.

true, almost all face mask penalties are for fifteen yards. Intent or no intent. The reason is to protect the player. A referee isn't supposed to judge the intent of the person committing the foul. Why should they?

When you grab a players face mask who's running full speed that could result in a significant injury.

If he hadn't grabbed the face mask to begin with there would have been no second guessing.
