I'm prepared to take a beating for my comments however, hear me out and let me know your thoughts on the scenarios I've noted.

Right now, we are odds on likely to finish as the 5th seed. We got a shot at the 1 seed which is clearly the goal so yes, play hard and aim high but it is stacked against us so I'm trying to be a realist and trying to think ahead.

some assumptions..........if we play Tampa in the WC and win, we will play the Eagles at their place (assuming no other wild card shocks) with a week of rest for them so that's a tough task.

My train of thought is do we take a week (even 2 weeks) "bye" from the Titans and Football team so we at least play Tampa fresh?

Now, I'm not saying hand the East to the Eagles, if we beat Jacksonville and the Eagles, then play hard to the end of the regular season but if we do fail to win against either of these 2, accept the 5th seed and take a mini-break?

Just listening to Parsons talk about being beat up, seeing injuries to players makes me believe the rest is better for the players than the "they'll go soft / get rusty" debate.

We have a good roster, 2023 should be a chance too but I just feel this year is the year to break that hoodoo yet I think 3 hard road games on the back of a 17 game season is going to be incredibly difficult to pull off so it we can't get the 1 seed, rest up and hit the playoffs after a recharge of the batteries.

Thoughts?

Resting players can have the negative impact of allowing rust to form, and for momentum and inertia to wane.

There have been some 9-7 teams that have won the SB over the years as WC teams, and part of their magic was capitalizing on playing their best football late in Dec and riding that wave into the postseason.

IMO— whether we win the NFCE or get in as a WC— our best course of action is to focus on playing our best football down the stretch and get the good vibes going. Winning cures all ills.

Just win baby, and the rest will take care of itself

I understand your thinking, but if we falter and are in danger of getting a lower seed, we may not have the luxury of resting anyone.

I may be wrong but it seems 5 seed and that's it, I believe the chances of slipping lower are almost nil.

I know, we rested key players before and it didn't work out..........I think 2016 that happened.

I just think the D line especially could so with time off as they don't have that zip at the moment, get them as close to 100% fitness as we can.

Always, always, does more harm than good. Just like tanking I can’t stand these people. they all want something for nothing without working for it.
I agree. It sounds good in theory. Oh let's just tank and get the best player in the draft...then that guy ends up being a bust. You don't get rewarded for stuff like this for whatever reason. Maybe the football gods look down on it. But how many times have we seen a team rest starters just to be one and done?

You already know how this goes.

Dallas and Philly win today.

Dallas upsets Philly next week.

Dallas beats Tennessee and Philly beats New Orleans.

Dallas and Washington will be flexed to a later game as they will be playing for the playoffs.

New York upsets Philly getting the 7 seed.

Dallas lays a stinker against Washington and loses the division.

you don’t have to completely rest players. you rotate them out more. play less that way they are still sharp at the end of the year.

QB - if game is a blowout play Crush
TE - i personally want to see hendershot start a game and see what he can do.
WR - play ty more and rest cd more
RB - play davis more
OL - rotate them like MM said
DL - see OL
LB - play the young guys more
DB - see OL

I think there’s a real good shot that a lower seed upsets someone and we end up going to SanFran or Minnesota for round 2 if we make it there. I was actually glad Minnesota came back and won yesterday because I’d rather them be the 2 seed than SanFran. I also think Wash will be a tough matchup for either Philly or SF. I also think Detroit could sneak in and would have to play Min round 1. My ideal realistic is we beat Tampa/Carolina rd 1, Wash plays SF, Detroit plays Min. Detroit wins and goes to Philly. Wash wins and we host them. Detroit upsets Philly then we host Detroit for the NFCC game.

I think all this noise is just an unhealthy distraction. Just play the games and make the best efforts to win each one.
The seedings will fall where they will and no matter what we will be playing tough teams in the playoffs. Heck we are one of the tough teams other teams fan bases are needlessly stressing themselves out worrying about playoff seedings.

If a guy is really injured then rest him and have him ready for the playoffs.

I've learned this game is so crazy and unpredictable and the days of any one team dominating and rolling into the superbowl the way we did in the 90's is probably never going to happen again.
The superbowl winners are most likely always going to be the teams that got hot at the right time and had some calls go their way.

Resting players just doesn't work with this team. Our record when we do that is just bad. We can't seem to win opening day games and games after bye weeks we really struggle. Just suit up and play. Keep winning. Keep the train rolling down the track. Take care of our own business.

First, they have to beat Jacksonville. If they lose today and the Eagles win, they have no realistic shot at winning the division.

I know they have the Eagles next week, but they can't look past the Jags who are better than the Texans and the Colts. '

If they can't win the division, I do think they should rest any players who are struggling with injuries. They may need to shut Parsons down for a game or two as well. He just does not look like the same player lately. I am concerned about his state of mind.

They want to be as healthy as possible going into the playoffs but they do not want to be rusty.

SF made it to the Title game last season because they were fighting at the end of the season to even make it in. That almost got them to the dance.
