I’m cool with him in the 2nd depending on who’s available.

Little boom or bust in him though as you don’t know if he can develop as a pass catcher.

The best part about DW is imagining him lined up next to Tyler Smith (or Tyron/Steele) and knocking defenders around for 4 quarters.
If he's there for your second pick, or close but you are afraid someone else will take him, I would consider moving up.

If he does nothing but be a great blocker and contested catches option in year 1, that's fine.

I am 100% with you, its the thought of him flanking your T's and helping them wipe out a side that is oh so tantalizing. If we are going to be a ball control, run first team, having a built in advantage in our 6th blocker is very valuable.

This year’s combine was the very first time I heard a blocking sled scream, “Ouch, layoff big boy!”
Excellent point. The THREE dudes whose job it was to drag it back in place after each rep were like "we're going to need a few moments"

A YouTuber “Mark Holmes” was pumping a selection of Flowers in the first and Washington in the 2nd. Thinks we would have the best offense and in the NFL with this combination. It’s certainly intriguing.

there is interest there as he was a one of the 30 visits but the board has be wiped out if we were to pick him at 26 though.
Nah. Here’s the criteria for a 1st round pick: Someone who can help your team immediately.

He is a similar player to Mercedes Lewis. Drafting him is more of a projection that he will become a legitimate receiver. No way I am spending a #1 pick on a blocking TE that needs development as a receiver
What development does he need that any rookie, even a first rouder, doesn’t? That would keep him off the field as a non-contributor? Does he run awful routes? Are his hands suspect? Does he not understand defenses? Please elaborate.

Hanging on the words of a fat guy doing a show in what looks like a crappy closet! No thanks.

He lumbers in and out of cuts, needs to development in route running, used very little in the passing game.

HE has the hands but he is limited in routes. and as pointed out his quickness on cuts is not great.

The guy is a killer blocker; which is what he was used for in college. But he has a LOT to learn as regards receiving and no one knows his limits there, which is why he is a reach in the first.

I keep hearing him and for the most part he sounds like a project.....seems like at worst he may be there in the 2nd but I don't see how he's a 1st round target.

His tape reminds me a lot of Martellus Bennett as a Cowboy. I never saw him in college so I don't know what Bennett was then but Bennett with the Cowboys was basically regulated to just being a backup tight end glorified tackle here on running downs.
Uh yeah, that’s what the 2nd TE in 12 personnel does. Bennett was supposed to take over for Witten without missing a beat. Problem was Witten just kept going! This guy immediately takes over and is putting up Gronk type numbers by next year season!

Right now he is Mercedes Lewis with the upside to be better, Lewis was a former 1st rd pick who has played many years in this league.

He looks raw to me personally. Expecting a tight end to come straight in and be Gronk......its wishful thinking and never happens.

“By next season”… he needs some polishing as a receiver as most all TEs do but he’s far from raw!

Washington is everything we hoped Rico Gathers would develop into.

Folks see Washington manhandling a corner and they think that equates to an offensive line caliber blocker. There's clips floating around on Twitter of him flat-out whiffing while trying to block on the line.
