7 FG game in 96...

I remeber the 7 FG game. Reggie White was pissed and went after Bonio. Then Erik willims came off the sidelide without his helmet made a B-line towards Reggie who then made mud in his pants. Til this day, its the most punk-ed thing I've ever seen in pro sports. Especially, from a HOF'er.

:welcome: to the Zone. That was a pretty funny post.

Favre is a hyprocrite. If it was so wrong for us to kick the FG back then, how is it right for him to run up the score now? Screw him. He's a prima donna punk whose team struggles on the road. I can't stand New Orleans, but I wouldn't mind seeing Favre sad next week.

Barry Switzer was awesome.

+1

I thought he was hilarious. Just completely out of control. I bet that even Irvin tried to hold an intervention or two for Switzer.

The difference is that the 7 FG was for a record....WHAT record was he going for with that TD? NONE. Big difference....

Who cares if it was for a record?

People argued that the Vikings were classeless bec. the last score was unnecessary. Guess what? So was that field goal. Just because it was for a record doesn't mean the field goal was necessary. The game was already won. So by its very definition, it was unnecessary.

So either the field goal attempt was unsportsman-like as well as the Vikings score... or neither are that big of a deal.

FWIW; I choose the latter. Had no problem with either. Other than the fact that it was my team that decided to give up/allow another TD, which pissed me off. But that's on our defense, not the Vikes.

You missed the point....what I am saying is that it is more understandable when you are going for a record. If he was in pursuit of a record I would have no problem with it....but that wasn't the case.

Not only that, but it's pretty much an un-written rule that in situations like this, you just run it up the middle for the most part and this is what the coaches were upset about....a play-action pass into the EZ on 4th down when they know that the defense is thinking that a respectable team would do what 95% of other teams have always done in that situation.

Sounds like an excuse fro ma frustrated 40 year old who couldn't beat the Cowboys and so fantasizes that beating the 2009 Cowboys somehow will vindicate the 90s packers, who by the way lost 21-7 during their Super Bowl year.

Deep down I think Favre knows his team was always second fiddle to Dallas even with a trophy.

...or just lineup in victory formation.

Oh, without a doubt.

Its clear that Favre was butthurt at the time of that game. And years and years removed from it, he still remembers it, and is still butthurt over it. Well, he got to extract some revenge for that.

But like you said/alluded to - I think the bigger thing is, he feels the Packers were so close to being a dynasty, they just ran into a a better dynasty.

Yep...that too. Even Sean Payton was taking the V formation with around 4 minutes against us a couple of years back when he wallopped BP.

I don't think he'll do that after yesterday....at least I hope not now.

I hope he scores 50 on them and 2 TD's in the last two minutes with a 35 point lead.
