I think the Bears were lucky that Miami wasn't there to face them again in the SB. The Mario Dolphins were the one team that matched up well with them.

It was one game where everything went right for Miami, and the Bears didnt seem all that into it.

Chicago would have mauled them had they played again.

That 80's Bears defense was simply amazing....

Those teams were ultimately massive underachievers in the postseason though. They had tremendous talent and managed only one super bowl appearance. They lost home playoff games in 3 straight seasons.

Educate yourself. The Dolphins relied almost entirely on the pass and the Bears main weakness was how bad their linebackers were in coverage. Miami had too many great receivers for their DBs to cover.

They finished at the top of the league in just about every defensive stat, including passing yds allowed, most ints, near the top in fewest yds per attempt.

Miami didnt even have the most passing yds in a game against them that yr.

There was nothing wrong with their pass defense. It was one fluke game vs Miami, nothing more.

It's not about stats, it's about match ups. The Bears defense just didnt match up well with the Dolphins offense and Marino was just a year from throwing his at the time record 48 TDs. He was just having a down year and the Dolphins were still #2 in the league in throwing the ball and #4 in putting up points.
