Great show. Jimmy simply did not allow our team to be beat once we got good.

I just watched the show.

As I said this morning, it will NEVER be that good for Cowboy fans again. That is the mountaintop.

Wow! What a team and what a coach!! I'm just thankful i had the priviledge of enjoying that season. I would drive to the Sports Bar every sunday afternoon to watch them play and as the season went on you just knew something special was brewing.

Anyone who thinks there are 4 teams that could beat that team is out of their mind.

In an SI interview prior to the '92 season, shown in tonight's episode of AG...

Peter King: Jimmy, if you go through the regular season relatively injury-free and fail to make the playoffs, wouldn't that be a disappointment?

Jimmy Johnson: That won't happen. We will make the playoffs.

Greatness. God, I miss that stuff.

this is terrific. That week 8 raiders game was a watershed moment, everyone took notice after that crowd and that defensive performance. I remember the SI cover that week with the Cowboys D.

I am going to put this on disc tomorrow, or friday when i get a chance.

In the media forum, I am going to start a 92 cowboys americas game tree.

For those unfamiliar a tree works like this.

I start the thread, and the first one to reply I will burn a copy and send it to....and so on and so on.

So here is the catch, Anyone who replies has to be able to burn the dvd in a timely manner, a day or so and send it to the next person.

i would like to start doing this and trading older and newer games.

In fact, I think that's one of the best SB pass plays in NFL History...right up there with Lynn Swann. Lynn's catches were beautiful, but I think that one catch and dive by Irvin required more strength and skill.

Let's not get carried away now.

As much as I hated those Swann catches, they were absolute masterful.

Irvin's catch can't even compare except in terms of the enjoyment factor for Cowboys fans. :)

That was a great to watch, enjoyed it a ton.

Jimmy kept these guys on their toes and got the most everything he could out of them. Listening to the players talk about him its easy to see why he was so successful in Dallas.

I actually watched it again later. NFLN replayed it about 10p cst. I had missed the first 20 mins the first time. It's one thing to read about certain things and another to see some of the behind-the-scenes stuff they showed.

And Charles Haley was literally crazy. It was funny watching everyone's take on Haley. He was like a loveable uncle who was also an a-hole.

I loved the show, and it brought back some great memories. The only thing I found odd was not 1 mention about our O-line. This was perhaps the greatest O-line ever assembled.

I wanted to see more about it so the haters could learn.

There might be two that could've beat them (85 Bears, 89 49ers) but certainly not four. They would've rolled the 78 Stealers or the 72 Dolphis REALLY bad. They would've made them look like fools.

it was the best coached OL ever probably

but they had the benefit of blocking for Emmitt and Aikman

nobody thought guys like John Gesek, Nate Newton and Mark Tuinei were elite talents...we got those guys basically off the scrap heap and Tony Wise coached them up...Tuinei wasnt even drafted as OL...Gesek we got for peanuts from Oakland...Newton was a USFL reject who had already been cut by one NFL team (Skins)

Man the memories. Such a great team. I have the playoff win vs. the Bears in '91 and a few of the games from '92 (Raiders, Giants, both playoff games) and Emmitt's victory over the Giants in '93 to clinch the division. I watch those games from time to time and man did we have talent. We had future pro bowlers as back ups (Woodson, Gogan, Lett) and future hall of famers as starters (Aikman, Emmitt). Which brings me to this point.

How in the world does Michael Irvin not get in the hall of fame this year? If he doesn't make it this year, there is definately an anti-Cowboys bias. That guy was the emotional fire of that team. If TO wanted to be truly great, all he needs to do is watch that segment last night in which Irvin showed his true passion and love for the game. Loved the big smile he gave to the camera as he was talking about the second TD in '92 SB. Some where (may have been here) I read where his catches per game went up from like 5 during the regular season, to 6 during the playoffs, and to 7 in championship games. That's the mark of a true #1 receiver. Marvin Harrison's stats go the other way.

Off that soap box, for now.

Like mentioned before, this team today needs leaders like Irvin, Norton, and Haley. With guys like that, Norv could easily be the coach. Well...

they would have STEAMROLLED the bears and 9ers.... our o-line would have knocked the snot outta that bear defense - i have NO doubt!.... the triplets would have had they're way....

as for the 9ers - remember, they BARELY beat cincy - OVERRATED!

I've read a good bit about the 72 Dolphins. Wasn't it widely thought that they weren't even the best team in their conference, and had a ton of games they lucked into winning, and won by the narrowest of margins?

I know the 16-0 is big time, but from what I've read, that team was far from great. The 90s Cowboys were just rolling people.

Frankly, I don't think anyone outside of 49ers, Cowboys and Steelers belong in the top 3-5. Maybe toss the Bears in there, like you said - those were truly dominant teams.

On the NFL America's Game website, they have a bunch of clips and interviews that didn't make it into the show.

Be sure to check it out (go to the 92 Cowboys team page):
http://ag.nfl.com/

There's a really good clip were Aikman talks about Parcells.

No doubt they would have killed the Dolphins. Actually the 73 Dolphins may have been a better team than the 72 Dolphins like the 93 Cowboys may have been better than 92.
