a big OLB - Mario Williams

All thats good for pass rush , but can he cover anybody ? :)

3-4 OLBs don't cover that much, and if guys like Anthony Spencer can cover well enough, then yes, Williams can too. He's twice the athlete Spencer is.

That was after he went on a diet that one summer...

It was those sleeves he wore, added like 30 pounds of weight. We can all agree it was the downfall of his career.

Cowboy fans love to talk about D. Ware is so different from other passrushers because he's a complete LB that goes into coverage. I think it's a bit overstated. Ware drops into coverage, but when is the last tome you've seen him chasing down a TE or RB stride for stride other than the Seahawks preseason game in '05?

The point is, I'm not implying he sucks, but rather that he's rarely required to do so.

Pat Kirwan on Sirius NFL channel today was ripping Wade for doing just that. If you ask him to lose 20lb.s and then he sucks you can't reverse it and tell him to put it back on. he also said that if you ask him to rush 95% of the plays from standing position he loses what made him a beast.

Coming from hand in the ground and low pad leverl he would hit the blocker at an angle that Williams had the advantage. Now he won't have any advantage. Tim Ryan the co-host agreed and said when he used to see ends standing and rushing he knew they were gassed and didn't have much leverage.

Interesting to chart Williams on this. How many sacks with hand on the ground compared to standing and whether he loses weight. Clearly Wade wants to make an impact.
