A closer look at what Jaydon Blue is and isn't

I agree with you. But he fell to the 5th round because he is not an every down option. The Cowboys have not had a back this fast in a very long time. Even if he only gets about seven to 12 touches per game he can produce the chunk plays out of the backfield this offense really needs.

Not saying he is going to be Dallas' next great back, but he's going to be a weapon. Personally I think Javonte Williams is going to rebound two years removed from his ACL and be the top option, but Blue is intriguing.
What are you talking about? Pollard was a 4.40 guy and weighed 209 when drafted. He played sparringly his rookie year.

No way Blue sees 12 touches a game. If he does, this team is in far more dire straits than what I currently have them as.

I cant count on Jed and son doing the right thing, but Id be looking for any and every opportunity to get a real RB in here. Lot of RBs drafted this year so there should be some capable starters released or available for trade when ps winds down.

Really doesn't matter to me what the pre-NFL situation is. I think QBs can be WAY over-rated and ready to dud.

From there it goes south fast. Defense seems to be next in line.

I think RB's are one of the less likely positions to bust out....but they are also the most likely to surprise people. Ya''ll remember what they said about Emmitt. And I grant you he might not have had THAT much success on say....Bengals. ha ha? :)

So...hard to say what Blue is. I am SURE I couldn't design offense around him, with this team now. Like I KNOW I could with Emmitt when he had his team. (okay fine....be skeptical!)

There are too many variables right now. Hoping we can fix the scheme and have someone to execute it. So many variable. I'm just gonna let it play out rather than bet on told ya sos.

Does he? How do we know? Because of what he did in college?
Um, yes…pretty much. Isn’t that how we judge every future NFL prospect? I didn’t exactly predict him to be a world-beater. It’s also why I said it depends on his work ethic.. but if he has a good one… Then, yes, he will have a role

Emmity was always projected as a first round pick who went 17. Emmitt would have been all pro, regardless what team drafted him.

Howd that work out for duece?

Half of the entire NFL draft class this year will be busts, and thats being generous.

Being great in college is only a requirement. It is not a qualifier to even being good in the NFL.

Not sure how this applies to Duece…that was a sentimental draft selection

He ran a 4.38 at the combine. At 196 lbs.
Zeke ran a 4.44 at 225.

Thats a quarter blink difference.

Lets just see if this 5th round pick even gets playing time, let alone makes any significant contribution.

For once in your life, maybe try and look at what they did on the football field.

NO...absolutely NOT. Either you WERE NOT THERE...or you remember wrong.

First off...who is "always projected as a first round"? Nobody is..."ALWAYS" projected. Some people object.

Secondly:

"Plenty of people had their doubts about Emmitt Smith coming out of Florida."

I hope this solves your misconception.

In this case we can't see what blue does. I just showed Emmitt's doubters, and they weren't all that wrong.

Let's just wait and see rather than try to get the jump on being right. The rest of the team has to get rated too.

A faster version of Tony pollard is my takeaway
Exactly what I was about to say.

He seems to be a Pollard clone give or take 10% or so.

With that they need a complementary back, maybe more like they need Blue to be complementary to someone else.

They’ve ignored the position for years while knowing they’d lose Elliott and Pollard. It may not be fixable in one off-season, but the guys they did sign were worth taking a shot on. The FO isnt good at what they do, hence there being plenty of complaints.

Jesus. All Im doing is putting some perspective on things.

No, he will NOT see 12 snaps a game. He'll be well off just making the roster.

Honestly, Mafa with his size could be a better bet. Need to see if hes quick enough for the NFL though.

Point is, counting on either is hope and a prayer. Thomas and Sanders are what we really have. And they aint much.

For a team wanting to focus on the run, they did a piss poor job focusing on the running back.

I’m not about to get all worked up over Blue until we see him play in games. He was a 5th round pick for a reason. He may end up real good or a flop. He has had a fumbling issue.

I followed Emmitt since his senior year in High School. We were both RBs. He was a year older.

If you think Emmitt was anything but a projected first round pick, you're simply wrong.

Huh?

Height: 5′ 9″
Weight: 196 lbs

Weight: 209 lbs
Height: 6′ 0″

10%?

I think Achane is a good comp. Blue will be an excellent weapon to have. I can see him occasionally lining up in the slot in some situations.

What he’s not is a bell cow who will get 15-20 rushes per game. He will need to be paired up with other runners.
I think we agree, it was a great pick by our GM, Jerry. ;)
