A commercial I produced ran locally during Super Bowl!

I produce TV commercials and new media up here in Alaska. In addition to all the national spots that everyone sees during the Super Bowl there are also local TV commercials that get run in each regional market. A TV spot I designed for a telecommunications company played during the game! It was one of only about five local ads that were run.

I know it's "only Alaska" but that was quite a treat to suddenly see it playing during the game!

Not bad. Green screening needing some color grading and some lightwrap applied. Otherwise pretty good for a local commercial. How much did that commercial cost to produce?

I don't know what the agency got paid. I made just under 10k. The green screen was a nightmare because the footage was artifacty. It was difficult to get even lighting on the floor, wall when using a crane.

My cousin works for an agency in New York. He had a small role in producing in a Super Bowl spot two years ago. I'd rather be a big fish in a small pond. I know I'd get blown away in L.A. or N.Y. but it's fun to have more creative control and work a smaller market.

Never say never. You would be surprised how many people have made it big here in NYC coming from small towns! I enjoy meeting them and listening to their stories. You have the talent and experience you should give it a try.Doritos had a competition for independent commericals, and if I am not mistaken the 3 finalists' commercials were the ones we watched. Careerbuilder.com also had a competition and the 3 finalists each got $100,000. I dont know how much the Doritos winner got.

how much of this were you responsible for? Were you involved in the shoot and the edit?
