Well you know Risen will ignore it. I think Carr AT THIS TIME is the best young QB in the game. Easily better than Luck. Better than Wilson if not by as much. Dak has to show he is NOT a one year wonder. If Dak can show consistency this year then he becomes the best young QB in the NFL.

Amazing how authoritatively you speak on a subject of which you have no knowledge.

This is in the "water is wet" category. Doesn't really take any knowledge beyond being able to fog a mirror.

Dak is a fine young QB.

But I would trade him for Derek Carr in a second.

So would every GM in the NFL.
I'm pretty sure Jerry wouldn't. Beyond that, rare is the idea that all 32 owners agree on, so I'm pretty sure this is not a "water is wet" type of concept. The problem with your assertion predominantly is the lack of ability for owners to measure intangibles. I'd say this is more of a "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" concept. The Raiders won't trade Carr. The Cowboys won't trade Dak. And given your hypothetical scenario, if any other team had a Dak to trade for Carr, once again, I suspect, they would stand pat and say, "No Thanks."

Same rule applies to Carr. Last year was his only good year in 3 of them.

2014 - 58.1 comp%, 76.6 qbr.
2015 - 61.1 comp%, 91.1 qbr.
2016 - 63.8 comp%, 96.7 qbr.

The comparison is interesting, but somewhat apples and oranges.

Who was better? Carr as a rookie? Or Dak as a rookie? In this case, it's no contest.

Carr has made great strides since his rookie year and is now a very good QB. With that said, Dak and Carr are very close right now, without Dak having the benefit of 2 additional years to get better yet. It will be interesting to see where Dak is in 2 years compared to where Carr was last year.

Dak was better as a rookie than Carr has been in his 3 years in the NFL. Dak is the best young QB in the league and in a few years he might be the face of the NFL. There is a reason he was Rookie of the year, a Pro Bowler, and #2 in the league in jersey sales last year. There is no substitute for hard work and the committed obsession to constantly improve. That's the only path to greatness.

I'm not so sure about that. Dak in some ways had an historic season last year and better than any season Carr has had. I think a lot of teams would take Dak. For some it may come down to style of offense. Dak is a better fit for this style of offense with more emphasis on short to medium passes while Car would be a better fit for an offense that goes down field more.
