Might be worth taking a chance on at that point, but he's got a lot to learn so may be more worthy of a seventh-rounder. Mailata was a seventh-rounder for the same reason.

If Bernard is gone. I just think you can teach a lot of things, but the size and speed/athleticism that Bernard has is something that comes natural and with work. Weru has good height, but he doesn't have good weight for a DE. Maybe he has the frame to add it. You can't win with just speed as a DE. You've got to have good technique, the ability to switch to power at times and great bend, mobility around the corner. DTs need a lot of that, too, of course. Bernard will have to learn how to time the snap, how to stay low and widen his base against double teams, how to use his arms and hands to free himself from linemen, how to find the ball and take the angle needed to make the play, etc.

Bernard has some naturally built in advantages that give you hope that he could overcome the learning curve. Weru has some, too, but the weight could be an issue.
