The subject of this thread is Here are the younger players in their first or second year so far that give us some hope for the future and clearly Carson fits into that category.

It has nothing to do with his first outing. It has everything to do with him being a 5th rounder and looking forward.
OK, so I have no hope for him

:angry:Bright spots? we ain't got time for no bright spots! This season is burning away and there isn't a firefighter in sight! Should we fall to the falcons, that bright spot will be seen from space, as AT&T Burns

Bright spots

Nice one Bob ;)

Tangle this is like finding a few candles lit in a large, dark room. Not much light, but it’s not completely dark, lol.

I think Ryan Flournoy can contribute . It’s a shame he doesn’t seem to be in the game plan at all . Jalen Tolbert rookie year was wasted . Dallas piles up WR draft picks then ….now I see posters wanting more WR drafted in April ?

In the midst of this stupidly frustrating season so far, there have been a few bright spots from some of our younger players. Most of these guys still have a lot of upside as well, which is the only light coming from the star at the moment.

Here are the younger players in their first or second year so far that give us some hope for the future:
  • LB DeMarvion Overshown - the 2nd year LB essentially playing his first year because of last year’s knee injury has proven to be a defensive bright spot. Though a little small, Overshown has 31 solo tackles so far this season, 2 sacks, 2 TFLs and 1 forced fumble. His speed and tackling ability are top shelf. Still has a lot to learn. But he has huge upside.
  • C Cooper Bebee - The 3rd round rookie has played well overall at Center, a position he has never played before the NFL. He ranks 4th on PFF on pass play blocking. His future may ultimately be at G, but his OL versatility makes this guy have a bright future.
  • K Brandon Aubrey - IMO the 2nd year K is unquestionably the team’s MVP so far this season. An All Pro as a rookie, he’s mostly picked up where left off last year. Get this - this guy has already made 8 FGs of 50 or more yards this season, and we aren’t even halfway through the season yet.
Wish I could list more, but I can’t honestly say any of the others have been better than average or below. Mazi Smith is basically on the bust watch list, Tyler Guyton has been inconsistent at best…I’m still holding out he can be good. He has all the tools. TE Luke Schoonmaker is looking very similar in performance to former second round TE (the late) Gavin Escobar. Drafted high but not showing much. Marist Liafau has been ok at times. He still has some upside for sure though.

Some guys that may flash some good things in the near future. Time will tell. Lord knows we need it.
Any other first or second year players showing their value and future upside?
Hey Bobby, you've heard that little saying: "Far and few between"? Well, that little saying describes the Cowboys younger talent level.................

Agreed, what is Brooks doing that is keeping Flournoy from getting more reps? Play these guys.

You don't cut players when you have nobody to replace them.
Exactly and none of them are bad enough to cut that would be ridiculous you use them as depth you flip it you set them on the bench and make them think about why they're on the bench and you replace them with someone else on the team until further notice see how they play give these replacements about three games if they aren't truly better the fans then can StHU. you know.. Because sometimes the coaches kinda know what they have on the bench and if we're talking about Terrance steel I don't know if we got a better tackle to replace him with that's like literally on the bench i mean who Richards?

The only way I see this working and I don't know why the coaches haven't done this yet it's literally stop being apprehensive about moving Tyler to LT, use Bass at LG and then move Guyton to RT..

I'd like to see going forward at least for the next three or four games what that would look like for all four of those games don't panic and then only try it once let it happen for four games just like you need to pick a starter at running back and use him 20 * a game the next three games or more let's see what we can do but hey that's just coming from a clueless fan sitting behind my desk...

I am going to be very interested in how Tyler Guyton develops in the remaining 10 games. That’s a lot of snaps to get better. He’s been very inconsistent, but LT is a very difficult position for a 22 year old kid right out of college to just walk in and play well.

Guyton has all the tools. But he really needs time to develop. And on top of all that, the likelihood of him having a completely different coaching staff next year is almost certain. So all these rookies will be learning under a different set of coaches and perhaps even different set of schemes. Which could slow development.

Jerry’s decision to keep McCarthy this year looks really, really dumb when the same GM decided to place a ton of pressure on a bunch of rookies this year in order to make the team even competitive. Really, really dumb decision.

One problem the Cowboys have is the Eagles have had a putrid secondary for years and it looks like they landed two complete stars with the 2 CBs they drafted in round 1 and 2. I have no idea how both of them lasted so long. I thought they'd both be gone before their 1st pick.

Three out of 22 not bad . No seriously you’re absolutely right. I really like the linebacker. Kendrick can stop the run, but he’s so slow. He can’t cover tight ends.
Kendrick is not going. Probably one and done.

Im a fan of the Guyton pick but even a rookie getting 3 penalties in one game , got to do better .
