Are Cowboys gearing up for FA shopping?

How in the world fans keep believing Jerry and Cap Boy will do something in FA is beyond me. What indication is there that Jerry gave a single thought to how bad we were last year? He was so angry over the humiliating GB loss that he said he loved everyone and did absolutely nothing but sign Duck. The season was over before it started. Now a new offseason, and all Jerry says is that he's shocked it wasn't us in the Super Bowl. Know what that means? SIGN OUR OWN and run it all back, just with a new walkabout HC. I expect we'll even bring back Toy Tank, which some will celebrate, only to watch him do more "little things" before getting "injured" by week 4.

Yeah, because they're definitely going to use that money on free agents.
So…why would you do these things? They don’t have to. Could trade Micah, leave Daks contract alone.

Doesn’t make sense to make these moves and then not participate. Doesn’t make sense to declare this team is close and not make any improvements.

But in theory they could make the moves and just credit it back to the cap next year. All eyes are watching.

Generally I agree, but they did take a ton of crap for last off-season and probably want to at least try to lessen some of that.

My guess is they sign backup/rotational types just to say they did something.

Remember they claimed to have “won the offseason” by trading for Cooks and Gilmore? That was cute.

I dunno, I really don’t see what they are going to be able to do to contend this year. Taking last year off and letting so much depth walk out the door turned this into at least a two year fix, and who knows what the QB room looks like by then. They had their shot and blew it because they don’t know what they are doing.

I think Jerry is so far gone that he actually believes having the highest paid player in the NFL means you are all good. That, and he doesn't really care about winning. I don't think the negative press bothers him at all, since attention is still attention. I fully expect us to have the first and second highest paid players before the season starts.

No when they sign Micah they'll say what they said about Dak and Lamb lol

Cap money now around $54-56M depending on which site you follow. Parsons extension would add another 18m. So $72-74m in space potentially.

And they could make this with restructuring:
Steele - 9m
Diggs - 5.8m
Wilson - 2.6m
Hooker - 2.1m

Extension
Bland - 3.4m
Hooker - 3.4m
Wilson - 4.2m

Cut
Steele - 4.625m
Diggs - 3.6m
Wilson 5.35m
Hooker 3.75m

There are others, but none that we should consider. Almost another 20m in restructuring available per above. Now that the time is doing it, where are all the people that said we had no cap room?

it would be great to see...but i'll believe it when and if they do.
Agreed, I think we all need to see something really different in FA this year.
We need at least one big signing in a area of need.

Jerry now has to compete with phil and wash (80 mil cap room and they will buy some guys)
So if he does nothing or too little, fans and media will roast him.
Cowboys need to go all out to try and catch up, or they will be 3rd place all season.

Jerry has done too little for too long, it is going to hurt his marketing too.
Sponsors dont want to keep riding a big loser for much longer.

Replace Micah with who? Draft picks?
They wont do that, and it is better to extend him, just make contract so you can trade if you
want to, and a way out in 2-3 years.

What would motivate and help parsons, is to get another good DE and that way teams
couldnt double parsons all the time.
Thats why he wanted myles G.

But cleveland isnt letting MG go, they say they are keeping him.
Raiders extended Crosby, so he is out now.
So might have to look to draft for a good one?

I think the plan on the draft is to pick mostly defensive players. That is who they talked to at combine.

Yes, on the surface it seems like maybe the are going to make a splash. Getting Osa signed, whether people like it or not, sends a good signal to the team. And if they are going to redo Dak's deal, then all hell could break loose.

However, even if they redo Dak's deal, they could still save that money and add it to next year's cap. Just a thought. So it helps this year, and helps next year as well.

The moves that they have made thus far are all pretty much expected. Osa, Hoffman, J. Thomas, tendering Turpin. Restructuring CD was also always part of the plan...I honestly would love to see them do something with Steele and maybe even Hooker and/or Wilson. They don't inspire much confidence and they are expensive.

How they handle Micah and guys like Dowdle and Golston will be interesting. As well as Tank and Lewis.
Better sign 50,55,90,2 and gholston the fa market is weaker this year

I think they will sign several players with history tied to the coaches

- RG WILL HERNANDEZ
- DE/DT DEMARCUS WALKER
- LB JACK SANBORN
- DT LEKI FOTU
- WR KEENAN ALLEN
Wouldn't be mad at any on this list

Agreed. I think when Jerry pays these huge contracts to guys he drafted, he sees it as a confirmation of how good he is at drafting. So in his twisted mind, when he gives a mega contract to a bum like Dak, he legitimately thinks he accomplished something. His mind is just totally warped and divorced from reality.

There is about to be a lot of disappointment on this board. Jerry just stated yesterday that he's not looking to free agency to fill any holes. He doesn't think the team has any holes and is close to completing. So, the plan is to sign our own guys and sprinkle in some rookies and dumpster dives.
