From the Ticket this morning. They said....

Dak has 4 straight games of over 70% completions. And with one this week, it will be a rookie record of 5 games of 70% or better.
But they also said, as we know, this will be hard to do and keep up.

My thought is, if GB CB's are still banged up and don't play, this is possible.

Also Dak is 33 of 44, for a 75% completions, on 3rd down with a rating of 107 on those 3rd downs.
The team is converting 50% of their 3rd downs.

They did mention, which is in another thread, about Dak and Zeke's jersey's in the HOF about the rookies over 1000 passing and 500 yards rushing. And asked....wonder if tony was thinking that after he went down in Seattle, that Dak would be in the HOF before he would....doesn't sound nice, but it was kind of funny.....

They were talking about Aaron rodgers being off this year, and if you would look at Rodgers stats this year and ask if you would take those number for Dak. Everyone would say yes. This being before the season of course.

On a side off topic note, they said the Vikings are on pace through the first 5 games with what the 85 Bears defense were doing.

I am not hating on Dak. Didn't a certain ex-Brown have stats like the 70%?

You can not compare any team with the 85 Bears. That was the 46 D, and it will not be replicated.

True that. The 85 bear D was the best defense ever. This Viking D does not yet compare. IMO of course

Dak's checking the ball down and making safe throws, so it stands to reason his completion percentage is high. He's doing a great job.

I would love for him to go to school on Romo and learn how and when to get the ball downfield. It would make the run game even better.

So all records (even rookie records) are put into the HoF, and they put the rookies' jerseys in too?

Zimmer would look great as HC of the Cowboys.

I didn't take it as a dig, either, SD. And I love Dak as much as you. Dak will need to stretch the field, eventually, as he gets more comfortable. And he will, there's no doubt in my mind. He's already flashed it in preseason, he has the tools and brain to do it. He's taken some fantastic intermediate shots, tho. Quite a few. He is not "dinking and dunking," but erod didn't say that either.

I think Linehan is holding him back a tad while he adjusts to the pro game (and rightfully so, imo). It has only been 5 games, we'll see it eventually, bud :)

Erod is right, tho. He's also not being disrespectful to our rook. Respectfully, SD

I agree he needs to stretch the field more, but he's doing far more than dinking and dunking or checking down as some suggest.

Absolutely agree. I edited that into my post as you were replying :)

It's incredibly grating when I hear people use that term (Colin Cowherd, Sharpe) when describing our guy. We know what's up, and the majority of the league does, too.

I'm prepared for incoming fire(actually I'm leaving)

The 46 and 85 Bears would be exposed these days.
Like Marino did.

Dak has the best rushing attack and pass protection in the NFL, and he's taking advantage of it. Linehan and he are on the same page, and his poise is keeping defensive coordinators from flustering him. Third and short helps, too.

It's an excellent formula to raise a young QB in, no doubt.

Dak isn't just checking the ball down. If all that was needed were checkdowns, Brandon Weeden and Matt Cassell would still be here.

Weeden was 72% completion percentage his last year in Dallas, just an FYI.

I fully expect Capers to mix things up and periodically sell out against the run and short-range stuff. Hopefully Dallas can bully their way through it, if not Dak is going to need to recognize those defenses and burn them when they do it.

Dak is doing great, but like erod said, he needs to stretch the field more. There are going to be times when he/we will need quick scores at the end of games to complete a comeback, and his current style doesnt suit that.

Im not knocking Dak, but this is something Romo excels in.
