I'm just saying if that's your criteria then Ray Lewis is average based on what's happened to them this season.
stop..just stop. Please do not put Ray Lewis and Bradie James on the same planet. Bradie James inspires NO ONE. Ray Lewis has pretty much inspired and ENTIRE organization! He will be in the HOF! Look, I am not dumping on Bradie James all of a sudden...I am just saying that I have long maintained that Dallas has hooked their horse to the wrong wagon when it comes to James. He is the leader of the defense, and it is a defense that has underachieved for YEARS. It is a defense that teams around the NFL know will fold like a deck of cards with the game on the line. It has happened over and over again during the James tenure. This defense, and any defense for that matter, has to have someone that they know will inspires guys to REFUSE to lose. Not saying it had to be James, but I feel like this organization annointed him as the leader, and it is not justified. As a matter of fact, Jerry Jones rebuffed the idea of bringing Lewis in a few years ago because in his words "we have our guy in Bradie James". And all I am saying is that Bradie James is an average player. He skates by because of all the issues people have with Carpenter or the slow start of Spencer. But I watch James, and he is not nearly the player fans and the ogranization make him out to be. Heck Kitna said the Lions would target him all day....and apparently the Chiefs did as well. These are not exactly powerhouse teams, yet they felt they knew who to target when they needed to make a play.

So now we've moved from "he's an average player" to "He's not a good leader" or something about being clutch.

I can't chase these shifting goalposts all over town.

again.... I have not wavered on James. So you can nitpick all you want. Or you can watch film, or listen to what opposing players think. I am happy about the win...not really in the mood for a pis*ing match with fellow fans. I was just repsonding to the OP. I honeslty refrain from coming after James on most weeks, but this is nothing new to my eyes. This is a guy that has been here since 2003. Has he gotten better since we drafted him? Sure! Has he performed well considering he was a 4th rounder? Absolutely! But I stand firm in my assesment that as the captain of this defense, as a 3-4 ILB...as a guy who is on the field every down.....I am not bowled over. He is on the field every down because what we have behind is putrid. And because what we have behind him is putrid, we tend to overrate what he really is.

Bradie James isn't a terrible linebacker.

He is a big physical guy who will butt heads in the running game.

He is just below average vs the pass and gets froze on a consistent basis vs Play Action passing.

He is a 2 down linebacker and I think he has developed into a very nice player for us.

Now would I like to see Dallas insert someone like Brandon Spikes into our line up in April? Absolutely. But there is nothing wrong with Bradie.

And as far as Brooking outplaying him it shouldn't be a total shock. Brooking has been one of the better linebackers in the NFL for years and he is back in a system he has familiarity with.

He had 8 or 9 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery. What in the world are you whining about?

Man... what is Ken Hamlins problem? He was a stud in 2007, but has been garbage since getting paid.

I was never impressed with him even in his "pro bowl" year. I think his INT's that year fooled a lot of people. He does nothing in the pass game, and must be the worst safety against the run in the NFL. I think we would have been better of with Roy, at least he can play the run.

As for James, he's a good player, but just cannot play in space as he is so unathletic. If you ever wonder what a scout means when they talk about bad hip movement, you just have to watch Bradie in space to get the point.

Help me out here, I noticed the AP report on the game stated "Tony Romo overthrew several open receivers" but I really don't recall that happening very much in the game, maybe a few times. Did I just miss them all?

It's just an overzealous AP writer jumping on the "Romo stinks" bandwagon. Quarterbacks sometimes throw incompletions, that's all. Romo threw the ball pretty well.

Seriously how does Hamlin even watch game film with teammates? The guy is an embarassment to the Dallas Cowboys. He makes the mistakes of an undrafted FA trying to make the team in the 4th game of a preseason game. He takes poor angles, he's indecisive in coverage and his tackling has to be the worst of any starting S in the league.

I find myself asking that same thing. If fans can watch just the Fox broadcast and notice this, imagine what the team film shows.

I guess the other saftey's are just that bad.....

I don't think what I typed about James was in Arabic. I said what I said. Happy about the win. Glad that ONCE again, a defense that gave up a scoring drive at the end of a half did not get us beat. What was unclear about what I said!

I agree, Catch. We all like Bradie, but I've found myself thinking the last couple of weeks that he's still awfully stiff in space.

Really, Brooking coming in and immediately playing so great really shows how average, or let's say just above-average, Bradie is. The Falcons dump Keith because they think he's washed up, and most people here are worried that he's too slow anymore, but right away he looks miles better than Bradie. I hate to knock Bradie because he's such a good guy and he gives it his all, but he just is limited in what he can do.

I guess the good thing is that later in the year when the weather gets lousy and the game slows down a little, he should be more in his element.

What I notice that is most troubling is Romo is flinching and throwing off his back foot all the time. If that gets to be a habit we have huge trouble.

We haven't seen Phillips run the 4-6 package much and rush Bradie from the outside this year.

He had a lot of success last year rushing the passer from the OLB spot.

I got respect for how Bradie plays the game. He brings a physical style and isn't scared to take on a blocker. He'll get his hands dirty.

I think James has been twice the player under Wade than he was under Parcels.

He was a JAG til 2007. Obviously Wade has better utilized the guys talent and kept out of disadvantageous coverage assignments.
Just one of the many good things Wade has done with this team that get completely overlooked.

Have to admitt I haven't notice James much one way or the other this season, so I can't argue for or against him right now.

i always dread this.our defense just folds in this type of situations.maybe we need to blitz more than waiting foe the inevitable to happen.
That is an epidemic around the league. Madden put it best when he said "All the prevent defense does is prevent you from winning."

The only two I can think of is one to Witten on the sideline that was a very tough throw and only barely missed him, and then the deep one to Austin in the end zone that Austin couldn't get to...which I thought was catchable.

Laugh all you want but I don't blame Carp for trying. Half the crowd were Cowboy fans.

2. Hurry up Defense - This team is playing good defense but in the hurry up we don't look like we are prepared for every situation and look confused at times. The Carolina TD is an example and the Chiefs/Bowe TD is an example.

Yes, the defense looks a little unsure of itself out there, maybe they're thinking too much or playing scared.

The only bad overthrow I can think of is the play to Miles Austin.

I really hope we try to get Austin the ball on a regular basis. I just want to see if he can make plays like this consistently now.

He put on a show Sunday.

I'd like to see him get dragged across formations and keep trying to hit him on the quick slants.

Guys like Roy, Bennett, and Austin you dont need to call a play that has a route that just gets them wide open. These guys are tough to bring down just by simply getting the ball in their hands.

I'd throw in having Choice get some more carries

He deserves more PT for sure.

But at the expense of Felix Jones? I don't think so.

Choice needs to master pass blocking like MB3 has.

I just hope MB3 is healthy in 2 weeks and we punch Atlanta right in the mouth.

Thats a crossroads game for our season imo.

I think it actually shows how average Thomas and Ayodele were. I think you guys are forgetting that James doesn't play the spot meant to get all those stats; Brooking does. Brooking is actually making the plays that Mo spot should be making and that's why it seems that way.
