It's so nice when the adults decide to post. :bravo:trickblue said:There is an old saying that if you forget history, you are doomed to repeat it...
- Week after week, countless NFL teams repeat history by installing the prevent defense only to lose via the soft zone. We were no different last night.
- We dominated this game outside of three plays. The two TD's and the Brunell run on third and long.
- Drew Bledsoe still has it.
- Flozell is getting an unfair rep as a "holder". Both of those calls against him were very questionable. That being said, he needs to be extra careful.
- Was Cortez first FG a miss? it looked like it went straight over the left goal post and they only showed it once. It could have been a bad angle for me.
- San Francisco is in trouble next week. A win last night could have made Dallas a bit complacent. This "defeat snatched from the jaws of victory" last night should teach Dallas to finish games.
- This team is pretty solid on defense/offense.
- Julius would have had around 100 yards had not a few runs been called back.
- Tyson Thompson needs more touches
- This team will be a tough opponent for any team later this year.
- We have things to work on, but we are going in the right direction.
- Don't take this defeat too hard, we did the same thing to them in the second game last year. It's ONE loss.
- Overall Payton did a good job of calling plays, but like the rooks, he will make some mistakes and needs experience as well.
- I try very much to be a realist and I really like the direction this team is moving in.
I tried looking at the site last night, but the whining and moaning from the lurker contingent was too much to bear. They come out of the woodwork like Catholics on Christmas.
I was very very bitter about the end of the game last night, but really there are some good things to take away from that game. I thought the game-plan and execution were very solid -- B to B+ material -- right up until those final minutes where the team and coaches checked out and earned a solid "F".
We played a conservative game plan and it worked to perfection until the very end.
It's not often that you have a game where you have 7 or 8 plays, any ONE of which are executed differently, will salt away the game. But that was very true for this game.
Anyway, time to move on. We've won plenty of games like this over the recent years against the Skins and we will win plenty more in the future.
This is a short week, so the team needs to put this behind them and focus on the Niners.
This is a good team and it needs to forget about this game and move on. The NFC is very weak, and there's no reason we shouldn't make the playoffs.
Thanks for the post Trickblue. It's good to read that some still have perspective... although I could have guessed which posters would still be grounded.
