A Football Life: The Great Wall of Dallas

You actually took the time to research what that imbecile has been doing? As fried as he is, he is lucky he can cross a street without forgetting where he is and wandering into traffic.

I am actually ashamed they even associated that burned out B-lister with this special.

What can I say....was bored

They did draft a center this so they are trying.

I agree. There needs to be a commitment to finishing the job with a least a quality guard to replace Waters. Building with LT then C has the first two most important down.

Aside from the QB, a key lineman like a great left tackle and perhaps another player or two (Sean Lee), I think the team should be run like a college team in that you plan to lose just about every player every 3-4 years so there is a constant rotation of back-ups in all positions and the trust that your drafting department and player development have done the job required to move on and away from high priced, aging vets.

easier said than done, but relying on aging vets that tend to not hold up through an entire season, gobble up cap room and stop progress of younger players is more risky imo than taking a chance on younger players.

Imagine how many medium priced free agents could have been signed if they simply hadn't extended Ratliffs deal a few years back, not signed Miles to that ridiculous contract and not franchised Spencer. Not being tied to those three alone would have given them over 20 million to spend this year. Spread that money and risk over 5-7 players vs just 3 seems like a better way to go, gives them more flexibility now and going forward and spreads the risk of injury among several players which should help them in December when the vets have shown to wear down in years past

No one recorded the behind the wall backstory.. I cant believe it there has to be someone on here that has it ....

DVR'd the show and just watched it. Nate Newton looked like he had terminal cancer when he was walking up to Deion's house after his weight loss surgery. He looked like skin and bones with a head like a raisin. LOL Even Deion couldn't stop laughing. Nate looks healthier now that he's gain some weight back. Gotta wonder how Emmitt felt about the show when they're showing him running through those huge holes giving all the credit to the OL. He talked about the OL during the show and you know he wouldn't complain but deep down he has to be bothered a little that so many credit his OL for his success. Some feel any back could have accomplished what Emmitt accomplished behind that OL but I don't agree.

It takes two to tango. Emmitt made that line and the line made Emmitt. I don't care who the best RB is in history, just glad we had the one with the most rushing yards in history. That team is the reason I still watch and have ultra passion for today, wouldn't trade any of them for whoever thinks was better not on that team.

They were a joy to watch. It never was a question if we would win....it was a question by how much!

And the only HOF from that OL was Larry Allen. EWilliams had the potential, pre injury. Emmitt had great vision. Can't be overlooked.

They showed the huge holes Emmitt ran through but he came out of a lot of piles and slithered through many a defender while maintaining his balance. He scored plenty of TD's where he had to run over and drag some defenders to get in. His OL was great but so was he. His will was unmatched not many backs could stay on the field and run effectively with a separated shoulder.

There were not, apparently, an abundance of RKG's on that all time best OLine of the 90's.............just an observation

I think most of them would qualify as RKG's. Wade Phillips was the one who was obsessed with drafting guys who could come in and be a part of the big happy Cowboys family. Garrett may have issues but being a softy hand holder isn't one of them. When Garrett talks about RKG's, he always defines them as guys who live to play, and play with passion. I think all of those guys would probably qualify. In fact, I'd say his '90s Cowboys experience is probably where the whole RKG thing came from.

Emmitt was the GOAT. There is NO debate. Emmitt was not exciting to watch. So what? He was the most effective RB in NFL history. Where other RBs danced around in the backfield for minimal or loss of yardage plays, emmitt almost every time found a hole and gained positive yardage to put his team in a better down and distance.

Like I said in the other thread, that drive in SB XXVIII was ALL Emmitt. He broke several tackles on that drive. Specifically the TD to end the drive was ALL Emmitt. He gets hit in the backfield. Go watch the video on YouTube. And in the show they acted like the line mauled buffalo's defense and hurt them on that drive. Emmitt pounded into Daryl Talley and hurt Talleys shoulder. Bruce Smith, who Emmitt runs right through on one play on that drive, hurt his hand on the screen pass to Moose trying to put a hit on Aikman.

I don't care what anybody says Emmitt smith is the reason we won those 3 SBs

I thought Emmitt was very exciting for a good while. He was effective for a long time after that. He made some amazing runs for several years.

I forgot how much john madden loved him some Nate Newton. He made Nate a household name

Hope your right, need a segment of guys with the attitude of the GWD on both sides of ball. That is why JJ brought Haley in on the defensive side

I think emmitts highlight tape is every bit as impressive as Barry Sanders. But how many kids click on Emmitts highlight tape vs Barry's cause that's all people have ever said about them? I was mainly saying that's kind of people's general thoughts about Emmitt. Not my personal view

So I gather no one saw the end when they had them around the roundtable Michael Irvin was not there but was interviewed via satellite. ahhh this is killing me I need to see the whole HOUR !!!! Come on someone
