A forgotten, but strangely fun losing season

Quincy Carter couldn’t throw a spiral consistently.

That era, the one with Jerry’s fingerprints all over it, was easily the low point in franchise history.

Coach’s decline was sad. Jerry and his scotch buddies attempting to run an NFL team was more toward the pathetic side.
Jerry wanted his own Donovan McNabb.
The fact that Parcells turned him into a playoff quarterback ranks up there with raising the dead and walking on water. ;)

Traded up for Carter, just in case.

They took a safety that couldn’t run soon thereafter.

To be fair, Troy threw a bunch of wobblers, too.
To be even more fair, the only reason those two human beings are in the same conversation is because they each played football for Dallas at one point.

He was horrible as a coach. Better at buying the groceries than he was coaching. Went out and got all his FOB's. His 3 yards and a cloud of dust scheme with a bus driver QB was outdated, boring, and pathetic.

His QB's were Quincy Carter, Bledslow, Testicleverde, all while a guy like Romo rotted on the bench for nearly 4 years. I hated Parcells.

When he made the initial decision to stick with Quincy the Bong Carter, it was all over any hope.

NFC East was probably as bad as it has EVER been that year and the defense was good. Only reason they made the playoffs.

Then he FINALLY plays Romo and has a great young QB and he quits? Good riddance.

Parcells was a joke here. Jerry handed him the keys and he blew it.
He finally plays Romo and he then proceeds to mishandle a routine extra point snap. Parcells knew from that point forward Tony couldn’t handle the bright lights.

And the current quarterback is a carbon copy.

Sometimes the lights are just too bright for Cowboy signal callers.

What kind of idiot HC has his starting QB holding on FG's? Talk about stupid. Another one of Parcells monster blunders.

But you are a rare find. A guy that hates both Romo AND Dak. Most like one or the other, which is laughable since they are both nearly identical in overall level of QB.

I personally liked both guys. To hate both QB's truly sets a new level of football ineptitude.

You sound like someone headed for the ignore button.

I don’t hate either.

They just can’t win the big games…although I would like Tony much more to advance the previous 2021 and last years team.

And stop with the hate moniker with every fan that doesn’t agree with you.

You have stated your disdain for Zeke many times over.

QB's dont win or lose games on their own. The common misconception for QB challenged football fans.

I do hate Zeke as a football player and have no problem admitting that.

Both QB's did and are very capable of playing well in big games.

What kind of football fan labels Romo a choker because he bobbled a FG snap if not a hater?

Romo was a choker at times. He was terrible in win and get in games.

Look it…the Cowboys will not win a championship with FA’s and 4th round quarterbacks. They just won’t.

I’m so steadfast in that prediction I’ll bet you $1000. I’m as serious as a heart attack.

I do Venmo.

Yah, those kind of absolutes are lazy and inaccurate. Romo was a hell of a QB and often had to win games multiple times because his defense sucked and they would lose the game in the end.

As far as the bet, I agree the Cowboys wont win a championship. Nothing to do with Dak. Jerry just isnt a good enough GM.

But the funny part is you actually thinking your some kind of genius by predicting that. LOL

When was the last time Jerry won a title? He is probably going to be waiting a long time.

ONLY thing I agree with for the QB challenged Dak and Romo haters is that the ONLY way we probably do win a title is with some kind of generational QB like Mahomes. Jerry simply isnt good enough to build a championship team around the QB. Mahomes would have trouble winning here.

There is always luck.

In the end, I’m a Cowboys fan like you and everyone on this forum.

And I’m certainly no football genius but I’ve watched a lot of football for many years. But I do know this much…the hardest position to nail down is an elite NFL quarterback. Get that and your chances increase exponentially.

I started watching football and following the Cowboys during that time, as a 11-12 yo football noob who just enjoyed watching the games with his dad and had no standards or expectations whatsoever I guess it was fun. If I take off my nostalgia glasses and look at it objectively, that era was pure garbage though.

He was holding on FGs that year because he started the year as the backup QB to Bledsoe. It was very regular for the backup QB to be the teams placeholder too. Romo became the starter mid-way through the season. You don't all of a sudden change the kickers holder in the middle of the season. They are a fragile breed, they can get get all messed up real quick- as we all saw last year. I would imagine Parcels kept him doing that so as not to upset or cause any problems with the kicking game, which is smart.

Three 5-11 seasons in a row.

I think these seasons may have been effected by a ton of dead cap money as a result of the Dieon and Emmitt contracts in addition to several others.

Of all posted threads and comments that are inexplicably deleted,
this is a thread that could justifiably be deleted. And yet, it remains. (lol/jk)

A 5-11 season... FUN!?!
Hopefully, the video was permanently removed from all platforms,
never to be seen again.

Oh the ole Quincy Carter years. Lol I'll give him one thing, he had a cannon arm. I used to have a Quincy Carter highlight video of long bombs saved (I didn't make it, it was from the early YouTube days) on my PC that is now long gone, but it had plenty of clips of him throwing down field.

I don't know if he could have molded into a better QB or not, but he had more passion for the nose candy than he did football.
