NFC East Offseason Discussion: Dallas Cowboys
They have potential... Danthebigbluefan : 7/7/2009 4:42 pm

Just like a lot of teams do. But I just never saw Dallas as a true contender for one reason. They are one dimensional. They do not have the ability to break games open. Sure, a couple of years back everyone was drooling over Marion Barber, and T.O. with Whitten as targets for Romo. But to be honest, outside of Felix Jones, I don't see them having drafted very well in terms of depth the past few years at all. Granted, a lot of that is because they (Jones) don't seem to put a lot of emphasis on the draft and attack free agency a lot more. I'm going to be honest and say that Romo is a decent QB. But this is the year where Romo either becomes what everyone in Dallas expected him to be, or this is the year they get the forgone conclusion a lot of Giants fans are going to love to hear. He just isn't THAT QB. He's not Eli. He doesn't really impress me all that much. Eli can with games, and he can win them when they count, when the Giants are down and out, and when the pressure is on. The good quarterbacks in history and in the league right now do those things. It's the same story with Drew Brees. When Romo was the best QB in the league (what a joke) in most opinions, what was he really doing? He was scrambling. Well, sooner or later you need to sit in the pocket and move the ball. Teams eventually keyed their defense on Barber and not overpursuing Romo; which in turn made him beat them with his arm and the WR's. Well we all know how that has gone. Not well. Every team in the NFC East now knows how to beat Dallas. They need to get creative and change their offensive strategy or it's going to be more of the same. The good news is they do have depth at HB and Barber can probably play a full season because of that. But the bad news is their defense is pretty depleted. They don't have depth at WR. And their O-line can't pass protect. Everyone thought they were this dominant group of guys, but how the hell do you call dominance your QB running for his life and extending the play?? Of course a WR is going to get open at some point during a 15 second play! I think Phillips is an idiot and has absolutely 0 control over his players. He was horrible in Buffalo as a HC. He's been a laugh to me in Dallas. At times he almost looks dumbfounded. Garrett is a good OC, but again, what does he have to work with? The true test of that offense is going to be whether they can play smash-mouth football, abuse and wear down defenses with Barber, and open up the play-action for Romo. Sounds familiar doesn't it? The only problem is, like I said, that defense is nowhere near what it was a few years ago. Their defensive backfield is very suspect and the strength of that defense which has been their linemen and backers are now very lacking in the depth department. I see them finishing dead last in the NFC East. Phillips fired (by week 10 but I'm just being arrogant there). And a lot of mayhem and boo birds coming about late season directed at ol' Tony. And you know what, I'm going to love every minute of it. Eat **** Dallas.
uh uh. No can do. I'm reading it.

Can never have enough laughs for the day, just another passing moment of wasted time, but a good laugh at that. Let them think and believe what they will....I just know on September 20th, sitting in my 1st row seat at the new stadium....I will be watching this depleted defense making Eli the wonder QB scramble for his life. I'll be watching Felix our "one and only potential" playmaker...making those plays and scoring TD's.....Yes, I will be laughing then too!:)

He says that Eli can win games when "the pressure is on." UUhhmm I think we can all agree that there was ZERO pressure on the Giants going into the Super Bowl. There is ZERO pressure on a team to play three straight road games in the playoffs as a 5 seed. There are no expectations! If you lose it's just another, "well, we were on the road, and we weren't expected to win" excuse built right it. What happened when they were the one seed? Playing at home, as defending champs, with home field throughout....? That is more pressure than playing an undefeated team in a game that NO ONE is expecting you to win (or even keep close.) Pressure on... Eli lost just the same as Romo... And the Giants go down as the ONLY NFC #1 seed to lose at home in the playoffs to a #6 seed if I am not mistaken....

I'm still trying to figure out what is the difference between what this Giant fan said and what some around here are constantly harping on as they rag on this team? I have seen our own make just critical of statements than this guy

Probably being that it's our team. It's sort of like your family, I guess, in that you can make fun of your brother or sister all you want. But if someone else says the same stuff then you're not going to agree with it or find it funny.

*Shrugs* That's how I'd best explain it though.

I love this type of misinformed posting. Its very reflective of most media, to strictly base an opinion on players leaving vs logic, and inside perspective.

Seems that every time the Cowboys are counted out, this team has success.

Personally, I love a season when this team shuts pie holes!

This is another Pie Hole shuttin Year.
