Oh, so you were referring to a do-rag, tuque, yamulka, fez, or something like that?...or was it the backward baseball cap thing someone mentioned earlier? Whatever it was, it sounds absolutely innocuous.
Meh, innocuous intent for sure. I was simply referring to how the team carries themselves, as adults rather than a bunch of lawless youngsters. But yeah, I guess I can see how someone could misinterpret the intended meaning behind my terminology. I wasn't going to apologize, especially since I knew what I meant.

But it seemed more than one person was upset, even a couple days later, so I thought about it some more. I"m not apologizing directly to the person who insisted I had hidden intent. I'm apologizing directly to anyone else who gave me even a semblance of reasonable doubt, which is pretty much everyone that didn't make it personal, but yet still may have felt uncomfortable or attacked in any way, even to Sam Williams himself.

When I saw people upset that I had said Parons "was acting like a gorilla" I concluded that even if my intent wasn't to offend, someone could still be offended by my words. So here we have it. I big fat, I'm sorry.

I think it's fine until you turn 30. Then it is cringe. I see 50-year-olds wearing their hats backward and I shake my head when they look at me. You've lost the battle... stop embarrasing your wife.
Tell Dan Quinn that.

we never know what someone can twist into being a micro-aggression

An ESPN announcer was fired because he described Venus Williams as using “Guerrilla Tactic” to praise her style of play in a match , which is a commonly used term in that sport to describe aggressive play.

Hypocritically, It was perfectly fine for Nike to run the commercial with Sampras and Agassi and refer to it as “Guerrilla Tennis”, with no complaints or consequence.

Double standard be thy name

I don't know what was said, and it doesn't matter. I got alot of respect for you, for doing what grown people do.

You said that? Because Parsons got in a fight in training camp?

How can that not be offensive? Geez…

Not to mention that training camp fights are commonplace and harmless.

I just wanted to clear the air about my poor word choice when describing a head appendage in a previous thread. To anyone my poor choice of words offended, I cross my heart, my commentary, in my short-sighted mind, was more about class, just in terms of character, and not meant to demean anyone from any location or culture in the world in some underhanded way, but I can see how it came off that way.

Anyway, I used a bad analogy. I simply didn't realize how it could be interpreted that because I myself did not interpret it that way. Having been around several cultures with the same stereotype, I failed to see how it could be interpreted as me directing it at one or somehow others when that's not how I meant it.

Anyway, I've never been someone above admitting I'm wrong. And that means apologizing when it's called for. I'm not going to make it long. But I do apologize for my thoughtlessness and will make an effort to self-monitor my posts a little more closely.

I try to be the last person trying to make this world harder for another person than it already has to be. I know we deal with enough struggles without that piled on top, and I'm really not trying to contribute to being that guy. Never have in the past, and never will, intentionally at least.

Cheers
I thought this was going to be about Semi Fehoko...

Parsons was behaving like a Gorilla ? No need to apologize. You said what you meant and meant what you said.

I was taught that obedience is better than sacrifice. Meaning it's better not to offend than to sincerely apologize for offending. You can apologize all day long

You know what you said and how you meant it.
