A Huge problem at Corner

So now we have resorted to altering quotes to take shots at Henry?

The quote was, "I'm not sure we have a 4th or 5th CB."

Pathetic.

Wow thats horrible. This guy's getting on my ignore list just to prevent false quotes from being seen in the future...

Without Newman...anyone think we can improve on our 24th ranking in pass defense?

I doubt that Ball or Thomas can help us.

You don't care about actual stats so it won't matter. But I'll still try and make a point against you. Maybe someday you will listen.

Our defense will rely on an improved pass rush. Hopefully with the new coaching and the fact that we have more depth at the end spots. This will come. Our DBs last year played okay most of the year but they started to give up yards when our front 7 couldn't get to the QB. You give QBs time in the NFL they will pick you apart no matter how bad the QB is in the NFL. None of them are really bad in the NFL. They may be bad in terms of NFL players but they still can do things that even regular College QBs can't.

A good Pass rush will equal a better pass defense. You can have Lott, Tatum, Sanders, and Lane(IMO the best 4 DBs ever) as your DBs and they will get picked apart if you have no pass rush

very good point. but we couldn't do it against the texans, that's whats disconcerting.:bang2:

the uneducated one has finally passed Kartr as the worst. And as one time I would have said THAT was impossible.

There. I feel better now.

I could feel your urgency increase each time you said it :D

Umm, maybe Eduncan isn't so wrong?

Henry isn't as bad as he claims... I think that's pretty obvious. But without Newman, our corners are on the weak side. This D wants to play a lot of man defense, and I don't think Henry and especially Glenn can do it for extended periods of time.

I wouldnt go that far

anybody that thinks the Q-Bong was/is an elite player has serious issues and has to be considered about the lowest IQ of people

You take away one of the top shut down corners in the game from ANY team, and their corners are going to be on the weak side.

It's a preseason game. Who cares?

Sure, but look at, say, Denver. Take away Champ and they have Bly and Foxworth, who has at least played a lot. Or Philly if they lost a corner.

I'm not saying the billion gripes about Henry are welcome by any means, but I do wish we had a young CB with talent or a mid-level vet who wasn't as old as Glenn.

Oh well, after hearing more this weekend, I think Newman will be fine anyway, so it shouldn't be a huge deal for us anyway.

how many times does this have to be said? it's not the results that count in preseason games. so we lost, big deal.
what there is to care about is our weaknesses that were exploited against a lower tier team. some of the same weaknesses we've seen for years- def. line, secondary minus newman, off. line.
our 1 st string was man-handled by the texans and, i'm sorry, it concerns me.
i hope i'm wrong.

Yes, if we lose our starters to injury, we'll have a tough time. That's truly insightful analysis. If we lost Bigg to injury, Owens to injury, Romo to injury, Witten to injury, Ware to injury, or Williams to injury we'd be in bad shape. Surprise! It's impossible to have depth everywhere in today's NFL.

What we have to hope for is that the rest of the team can make up for an injury if it happens. Last night, our starting defense gave up 14 points. One of the TDs was the result of a single long rush play. Not sure who to blame on that one, but I doubt it was our starting corners.

When Newman is back and healthy, this conversation is meaningless.

Listen to the words of our coach.

Its all you need to know.

no, all i need to know is when you're going to actually say something intelligent. since that answer is "never" you're just one of those PITAs in life you have to deal with because the PC generation got losers to think they're winners and the stupid to think they're smart.

I'll be more concerned when it happens over an entire game in the regular season. If there's any side of the ball to be worried about from their play last night it's the first team offense. They had only one good possession all night. And we know that offense will be just fine when the season starts. There's just too much talent. The defense allowed 2 TDs in the first half and one of those was on a 2 minute drill. I'm not too worried about the teams play last night. If the offense plays that bad in the regular season it's just going to be a one game deal, it'll be tough to slow our offense down.

Did Newman die?

With Ellis injured, and without drafting Anthony Spencer, wouldn't we be thin at LB? Where would our pass rush be?

If we hadn't drafted Free, where would our LT situation be like next year?

If we hadn't drafted Folk, our '07 kicking game would be back at '05 Square 1. *shudders*

Dude-please give it a rest, OK?
