A little stat about Romo that makes him great.

We all sit in disbelief as we continue to watch Tony perform the thing that amazes me is that when Dallas has the ball on thier own 1-20 yard line, Tony Romo completes his highest percentage of passes at a staggering 84.6 (11-13) which IMHO shows he realizes the importance of how he must make sure to protect the ball and not put the defense in a hole.

Also from the 20-50 he is completing 70.5 (55-78). And inside of the redzone he is completing 70.4(19-27). The weakest time is when he has took the chances and that is between mid-field and the red-zone at 64.5 ( 40-62). So when he really needs to be at the most cautious he is and is completing the sure thing and getting us out of holes and not taking unnecessary risks.

I honestly believe the more pressure you put on Romo the more he is going to respond with the plays it takes. These are all my honest opinions because I, like most, want to believe that the search is finally over and so I digest stats and look for the negatives and positives and when i find the positives I like to share them. I know the negatives as much as the next fan but really think with this QB and the potential of our offense it is now time to concentrate on the positives.

I might be a homer when it comes to the Boys but most of the time I look at things with a lot of skepticism. I realize when I am being a Homer and when I am actually digesting all the information looking for faults. And I am finding that Romo's upside is so much larger than all the little faults.

Of the quaterbacks considered great such as Manning, Brady, Brees he is the only one completing the highest percentage of passes in the area between the goal line and his own 20.

:D j/k Dude. But you might want to throw in a period every now and then. It'll make it easier on the eyes/brain to read.

LOL yes I have that problem trying to break the information down as it flies around my head. My excuse is Tony Romo is Making my head swim with all the little things he is doing and befuddling even the most skeptical thoughts i have. I will work on it and take 3 or 4 days to work on my next post so that it is simple (really simple for you) to read.

Possibly the longest ever but grammatically sound...I have inserted the names of the syntactical items that allow this sentence to be both run-on and correct.

These are all my honest opinions because (subordinator introducing dependent clause) I, like most, want to believe that the search is finally over and so (coordinating conjunction followed by subordinating conjunction - allowing for the introduction of both a compound sentence containing another complex clause)I digest stats and look for the negatives and positives and when (coordinating conjunction followed craftily with a time clause adverbial) I find the positives I like to share them because (subordinator introducing another dependent clause) I know the negatives as much as the next fan but (coordinating conjunction creating another compound) really think with this QB and the potential of our offense (introduction of noun clause with omitted 'that'..perfectly permissible) it is now time to concentrate on the positives.

This sentence is actually a well constructed complex-compound-complex- compound-complex-complex-compound-complex.

It's also notable that commas were optional except in the very place where the poster used his two.

OKCF, don't mind us. :)
And great post!

Do you get kicks out of correcting one's grammar? You should change under your avatar to say "Professor" or "English Major". Yes, it is very annoying to sit through people making mistakes sometimes that you feel is elementary, but it is more annoying for someone to go around correcting people all the time.

Excellent analysis, OkCowboyFan. What has really impressed me about Romo are the completions on 3rd and long. He never ceases to amaze me on those. When you consider the dropped passes he has suffered, it is really phenomenal what his completion percentage and yardage total should be at this point. This is like a fairy tale. All those years of suffering as Cowboys fans, wondering where and how we would find our "QB of the future" and he was on the roster all along. At least he seems to be the real deal. I am so excited about the rest of this season. In New York, let's make it 4 in a Ro-mo.

Did you mean that the "commas were NOT OPTIONAL except in the very place where the poster used his two?"

I submit an idea.

How about the ladies of CZ start a grammar school for the grammatically deficient :)

I will be the first to sign up :)

Well, commas merely reflect the same pauses in communication that we use when we speak.

There is a general rule given to young writers, "when in doubt, leave them out", because too many commas are 'worse' than too few. That rule doesn't explain anything about comma usage, but it does lead us to a better comma rule..which is SAY the sentence, and if you pause in your speech, it's almost certain a comma belongs there. If you DON'T pause, you don't need a comma/period, etc.

Now it is within possibility that were OKCowboyfan to recite his sentence in a naturally communciative way, he would NOT have paused at all, except for the place where he placed his commas (around 'like most').

This would also mean he has the lung capacity of an orca, but it is entirely possible that sentence could be spit out whole without losing consciousness.

OK, just teasing..I know you got busted on the paragraphs yesterday...we're just joshing ya.:)

Interesting stats OKCF...thanks for that perspective.

You know you've been reading on this forum too long when you don't even blink an eye about a grammatical faux pas. I usually notice most errors, but I don't complain about them because that's not why I am here. I'm sure Rack was just having a lil :cop: fun. But I'll try to be more careful myself.

There are times when run-ons and fragments are appropriate in my opinion. Fragments can express complete thoughts and run-ons avoid making needless fragments.

I like Romo's second half completion percentage for the last three games... 93.5%

I hope after the Giants game it is the same or better...

This is why I made this my new home. The only forum where one post can inform, educate and entertain. I really love the valid points about 3rd down completion %. As hard as I have tried to find some glaring weakness in Romo's game I find even the smallest detail supporting the fact he is the real deal.

Also if I need your email Rack so if I ever need to write some kind of report I can send it to you and you can proofread and correct as needed. I want my report to be understood by even the most simpletons hence my request for your email. JK.
