A look at the positive (stats wise) for Dallas....

Stats are nice but wins are better.

For the most part teams with sorry stats also have another sorry stat in the win loss column.

Oh I agree with you. We dont have to change what we do as long as we get better at what we do.

This goes back to what some of us have said, it is the execution of the offense not so much the play calling. That is not to say that I agree with every play that is called but even Parcells said he second guesses himself when a play does not work.

I have not been too critical of BPs play calling with the emphasis on the too part, because I have been critical at times.

Good post, Rich. The news is far, very far, from all bad with this team.

Just a little more offense and this team will be set to roll. Getting a (hopefully) healthy Julius after the bye could be the boost we need.

we are in a position to take care of business against our division foes. we are 2-1 vs the division, if we go 4-2 or 5-1 we will be in great shape. and the other 3 teams have yet to play each other.

Also i noticed that washington's last 3 games are cowboys, giants, eagles....3 straight division games to end the season...ouch

Our only problem in the Division games is they are all on the road.

Stats are nice -- but where are the bone crunching, bone jarring hits. Those seem few and far between this year.

Watch Roy come up the middle on the rush. He hit's something every time.

I agree. But, my main point is that if you do well in certain departments, you're likely to win more games. If you don't it's more of an anomaly than anything.

The opposite could be said as well. While Washington is 4-2, the likelihood of them going to the Super Bowl or even making the playoffs without being able to sack the passer, create a good turnover margin, and play poor on special teams isn't very good.

There's always the anamolies, but I'll always take the teams that are good at doing things that have a positive correlation to winning.

4. This I’m not sure about, but I believe the only team to win the Super Bowl and have a negative turnover margin was the St. Louis Rams in ’99.

The 1999 Rams were plus-5 in turnovers.

The problem is Dallas will be a truly great team until they get their yards per carry up from the 3.3 which it is right now. That is tied for 5th worst in the league.

If Dallas was averaging at least a 4.3 which would catapult Dallas into the top 10 rushing averages in the league, I am convinced Dallas record would be much different than it is now.

No one is remotely scared of Dallas running game. Of course having Julius out is not helping matters, but even with Julius we were not exactly tearing up the league.

Yards per carry has a very low correlation to winning in the NFL.

Looking at it solely I would agree. I mean Houston is 5th in the league at yard per carry, and they have not won a single game.

However, a team like Dallas needs to average something higher than 3.3 yards per carry.

Maybe Sterling Sharpe is right. Roy's weakness is he can't cover the entire field at once. :)

Rich.......

Well Roy did say "..the earth is covered by 2/3 water and the rest by Roy Williams" in his pre-draft video clip. :laugh2:
