A lot of things went wrong but this is on the run defense

A serious issue that’s lots of people have been downplaying. Teams run at will on the defense, at the beginning, the middle, and the end of games.

Yeah, you're right. The defense is to blame for Dak throwing 2 picks that directly lead to 14 points.

But I digress - yes, the defense sucked yesterday, but the offense has to do their part to help them out.

No one on here is ignoring this. We have a lot of weaknesses. Run D and Dak are the biggest
Add coaching to the list. They are stupid for continuously throwing the ball with a 14 pt lead in the 4th.

Run defense is the biggest stat but the biggest impact and the reason the team lost was terrible coverage in the secondary.

3 TDs to Watson and the long play to Lazard are the reasons the team lost. Not the run D

Correct, we as fan's like our scapegoats and the run defense, whilst poor (id look at Boh), it wasnt the only/main concern. If Rogers was happy to throw so persistently to Watson you know he's got no respect for Brown or our CB2.

This is not on the run D. Did someone misses the huge TD bombs allowed in the passing game?

When you're able to run the ball at will, the pass rush is neutralized and those long passes are a lot easier to complete. Pass coverage has never been a strength of this team. It's always been about the ability to generate pressure and/or sack the QB.

The run D flaws are in part probably scheme but talent is just as big an issue. We are simply not that talented up the middle from DTs to LBs.

I'll have to look but where Quinn's defenses in Seattle, when he was a high flying DC, that poor at stopping the run too?

Seattle had KJ Wright and Wagner at LB. Big difference. I was miffed why Damone didn’t get to start or play more. Also, where the heck has Cox been? Try something new. The league has caught up to this D.

Is it scheme or personnel? Or both?

I think it's a combination of both.
The DT's stunting or trying to hit gaps leads to larger vacated holes / openings. Our LBs never seem to fill that vacated area.

I saw this one play where the left DT stunted around the left DE and you could have driven a semi through that spot. Needless to say, that was a big gainer for them.

The sign of a champion is getting it done when the game is on the line. Not all the time, but most of the time. The Cowboys offense had opportunities to win this game. The Defense did too. Both sides did not get the job done. From the 4th quarter till the end of the game the Cowboys defense could not stop Rodgers and the Packers. That is not championship play. On their OT possession the offense could not avoid mistakes and could not convert with two downs to get 3 yards.

Blame Dak. The coaches. LVE. The DTs. Whoever, but there is a lot of blame to go around. The team looked flat coming off a bye week. We have seen that before from the Cowboys. We hope it is one game and they will be back on track next week. We certainly hope it is a not a repeat of every other season when they seemed to fall into a funk in the middle of the season for 5 or 6 games.

The next two games will tell us a lot. Win them and they are in really good shape to make the playoffs. Lose them and I think playoffs becomes a pipe dream.

Meaning what? The defense was atrocious during the fourth quarter. And, we had some really bad penalties to stall drives a very costly missed PI that would have extended one.
And the O was also atrocious. Both.

They ran for 200+ yards. But yeah, the run D wasn't a problem.

LOL.

Small hint, when you start creeping up safeties to help in the run game, it exposes your secondary. Guys like Wilson were playing a lot of run support yesterday and it exposed the flaws in our secondary. So to say the run D wasn't an issue just the pass D is bizarre.

Run defense has been an issue for years. But what people conveniently ignore is the offense that decides to just go on vacation during portions of the game. Started slow, Dak was misfiring all game long, either throws too high, in the dirt and consistently behind the receiver. He had one decent pass all game and that was the TD to Lamb. The offense takes the lead and just turns off the engine and decides to take a nap. Yesterday was as much on the offense as it was on the defense, starting with turnovers, penalties and just ugly execution from the QB to the receivers and OL.
We completely sucked on both sides of the ball in the 4th.

Most ignoring and calling LVE a solid player. He was exposed int his game as in others.LVE sucks and sucks bad.
I was actually excited when he went down. I thought Clark would get more opportunity. Then I realized they put Micah there...
