Brees, Brady and Rodgers are all likely done at various points over the next 3 years. Matt Ryan is 35 with his best days behind him and Stafford is likely going to be traded (one would think they’d prefer to trade him into the AFC). Kirk Cousins ain’t it in Minnesota. The two “sure thing” QBs in this draft are likely going to be picked by AFC teams.

Other than Russell Wilson in Seattle, who in the NFC has their long term answer at QB currently on the roster? Are Kyler Murray, Jimmy G and Jared Goff better longterm answers than Dak?

I’ll be interested to see who makes a run at Deshaun Watson, but to be honest outside of Seattle I wouldn’t trade our 5 year QB forecast for any others in the conference right now.

The bigger point though is that there could be a real paucity of QB play and resulting team quality in the NFC going forward.
No doubt that the AFC is where the young guns are

Mahomes, Allen, Burrows, Herbert, Jackson, Watson, and probably Lawrence.

The NFC....not so much

It should be easy to make Pro Bowls representing the NFC in the near term:laugh:

Superbowl Champ will come from the AFC the next 5-10 years without some fluke luck ...well atleast after Brady hangs em up.

Its absolutely insane how stacked the AFC is gonna be with Top tier QBS and Teams that have build Contenders the last few years.

Mahomes
Allen
Herbert
Mayfield
Lamar
Tannehill
Burrow

Soon to come
Lawrence to Jax

Trade rumours have Watson to the Jets and who knows were Stafford and Rodgers gonna end up.

Stafford might end up with the Broncos and Rodgers with the Patriots...

Cowboys will have a really good chance the next 3-5 years in the NFC if they keep Dak, make sure the O-Line is healthy and has enough good Backups and get a freakin Defense.

Theres not a better chance to get past the Divisional Round for the next 3-5 years most likely.

The NFC is wide open.
Stafford will be traded, but who cares? Despite it being Detroit, he played most of his career with HOF bound Megatron, yet he only went to 1 pro bowl in 12 years. Arm talent, but only average as a QB.

As for Rodgers, he is probably considering retirement but will be back. If you are Green Bay, are you going to trade him after an MVP season? No way.

Watson won’t be traded either....not unless some idiot team offers 3 first rounders, and even then Houston would have to have given up. They own him. If he sits out, he doesn’t get paid. No way I’m trading him.

The NFC East is ripe for the Cowboys to dominate.

Philadelphia just hired a nothing Head Coach and have serious roster issues.

Washington has a solid HC and pretty good defensive front but their QB situation is unsettled.

The Giants are a mess and Jason Garrett calls their plays.

If the following things happen, the Cowboys own the East the next few years:
  • Dak is re-signed
  • OL is healthy
  • Quinn is actually a good DC and not the Jason Garrett equivalent of a HC he showed (respected but no tactical advantage, slogans over substance) to be in Atlanta.
  • The FO goes out and fixes the Defense with quality free agent upgrades and focusing on defenders in the draft. The Cowboys have 6 picks in the first 4 rounds. Would love to see us 4 defenders who can contribute on defense.
Which sets us up nice to have a 50/50 shot at winning a first round home game and getting smoked on the road the following week.

But that would represent progress according to the walking ego and after adding a flashy skill player in the following draft Jerry would have all the hype working for him.

On and on we go.

I miss the good ole days of the 80's and 90's when the pretty AFC Offenses got smacked down every year by the tough and rugged NFC D's.
From the 1981 season through the 1996 season, SF won 5 Superbowls, Dallas won 3 Superbowls, Wash 3, NYG 2, GB 1 and Chi won their only SB with maybe the best defense ever. The Raiders in '83 were the only AFC team to win. Great times to be an NFC fan. Those AFC teams couldn't deal with the great defenses those NFC teams rolled out every year

Despite there being a huge opening for the next NFC Powerhouse team, Dallas will not be one of them despite having “potential” on the offense. What a joke. It’s out there for us to grab, but our coaching, defense, and GM will find a way to screw it all up.
Well you’re always negative so no one listens to you.

So what you're saying is we need the entire nfc to stink for us to have a chance... wonderful.

sign Dak.
get our injured back.
tweak the D...we're in this thing.

Add: 1) Have an amazing draft and 2) Keep the key players healthy

If they do that, there's no reason this team can't be in the NFC Championship Game next year. Who scares you? Seattle? Rams? Eagles? I'd only say the Packers and that's if Rodgers comes back.

The NFC has been 'wide open' for all of the 21st century
2011- 2020 NFC Champions: Bucs, 49ers 2x, Rams, Eagles, Falcons, Panthers, Seahawks 2x, Giants

2000-2010 NFC Champions: Packers, Saints, Cardinals, Giants 2x, Bears, Seahawks, Eagles, Panthers, Bucs, Rams

Cowboys just have been bad \ not good enough \ didn't get the job done when they've had oppottunities.

as good as Deshaun watson is, he lacks leadership. Not a good trait to be void of.

Brady has been smart over his career not to ask for more money than the law allows. He's always left enough on the table to sign FA's who could come in and help his team win games, win division titles, win the AFC and now the NFC Conference and win Super Bowls. The team is the one who helps build Super Stars, not the individual player. This is why Brady is a true winner..............

With all the best QBs in the AFC other than Rodgers, one would think that the best way to compete would be to build a dominant defense. We aren't going to outgun Mahomes.

I'm not as confident as you. The Giants are improving. They'll be competitive and they get Barkley back. Washington is a tough team to beat without a QB. If they pick up Stafford, look out.

Deshaun Watson...
what a colossal moron.

Brady wins 6 Championships and has 20 years in the NFL, yet isn't even re-signed by the Patriots.

Watson has accomplished nothing except stats - yet thinks he should have the final say in the GM and head coaching hires.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
I wouldn't say he is a colossal moron. This isn't the first time a player has tried to get some say in team decisions. You have to remember the owner is also a moron where he let the last coach trade Hopkins and also give up a kings ransom to get a LT. The team also has gone head over heals to placate a washed up JJ Watt instead of catering to Watson.
The part where I blame Watson is signing that huge deal and then thinking a trade is possible. But even a crisis can present an opportunity. Maybe this is great for the Texans to reset their draft capital and have some desperate team do a Herschel Walker type trade.

The Cowboys line every offseason is we like our guys and this is our year. Signing Dak to the highest contract in the league is beyond stupid, yet Jerry is first in line to do so. 26 years.. what's another 10.

Kid need to learn his place don't he
5I5s8.png
sounds very familiar and close to home..hmmm

these NFL kids wouldn't like it if i was the owner, sports period need owners with backbone..

I would tell these kids to honor their phreaking contracts or sit an get massive fines ie 100k per any team mandatory function missed, every meeting, practice, requested press conference, or even a uniform fitting..

im sick of looking around sports and seeing the blackmailing going on and players with huge deals and promises made getting traded to wherever they want..

no way F all that noise..you signed a 37mil+ del you play or sit and lose money..a chit ton of money and no taking it back like jones has done with fines , i would have fined EE 1mil for his latest holdout and no refunds once he was signed or came back..

weak azz owners are ruining sports..

Detroit is basically in not so secret double rebuild mode. I’m guessing they’ll trade him to the highest bidder figuring he’ll be out of the league in 2 or 3 years a not much of a threat to them for anything meaningful!
Stafford is 33 not 38 years old. He has another very good 5 years minimum. Leaving the Lions will prolong his career even more than 5 years. The timeline of QB's has changed. They stay in shape, they are protected. Even Rivers threw for over 4K yards this year.
This is why when people tout Dak's numbers I don't get fazed. This is a passing league and it has been that way for 20 years now. Josh Allen threw 20 consecutive passes against the Ravens in a playoff game two weeks ago. Allen is not even an accurate QB.
This team has lost its mind paying Dak the highest QB contract. It will play out like it has in LAA, Philly, Minnesota, SF, you name the team that overpaid a good QB. It never ends well.

Stafford took a pounding early in his career, often injured and just looking at him he’s already in major decline and regressing. He has maybe 2 seasons at best before the wheels come completely out!
