A moment of respect for Kirk Cousins

Not accurate, Brown, Kazee and Lewis have INTs plus there are fumble recoveries. eliminating the best player we have on defense isn't an argument. Sacks and QB pressures have also increased. Yards are important if you're getting turnovers that end the potential for a scoring drive.
Yes, but they don't have 7 INTS each or between them even. I didn't say we wouldn't have a single turnover if it wasn't for Diggs.

I said Diggs himself inflates our turnover numbers and masks an overall bad defense. I'm not taking him out of anything. I'm saying that you need to looks at the numbers with some context behind them.

We're giving up 24 PPG right now. That ranks in the lower half of the league. This is why I say we can't rely on turnovers every game, because what happens if we don't get them? That 24 PPG could easily be 30 PPG.

I've always respected his game. When I use to says he's sort of the Romo of his era people frowned on it on this site. Kirk is not a bad QB. I think the reason some fans are skewed is because he has struggled on prime time games and in regards to Cowboy fans he never really has great games against us.

But he can play. And he can shred you up if you let him. Worst thing to probably happen to him and his career is Sean McVey leaving the Commanders but he has some nice weapons in Minnie. Ship out Diggs and Jefferson steps right in with Thielen there and KJ Osborne looks like the real deal too. Dalvin Cook.....I don't watch many Minnie games so I don't know why their defense isn't up to par with the offense with Zimmer as coach. But the O can beat you for sure.

Diggs creates turnovers.

You take Diggs out of the play and you're playing without much fear.

Diggs and his turnovers are masking a defense that is one of the worst passing defenses in the NFL and one of the worst defenses in the NFL at yards per carry allowed.

Sorry but you got this wrong. The defense is giving up 4.3 ypc which is good for 17th. Not Doomsday but certain not one of the worst in the NFL. Also the pass defense is underrated because they've spent a lot of time up by 20+ and playing soft.. You know how some people claimed Dak's numbers were all "garbage time" last year.. If the passing numbers our defense has given up when up when up by three scores matters then how is that different from the alleged "garbage time" argument on Dak's passing numbers under similar circumstances?

The defensive numbers also look a lot worse because for the most part we have been playing with leads and relaxing in the 4th (which is stupid) but it makes sense. Those numbers are fairly skewed IMO.
It is. Its why our rushing yards don't look nearly as bad as they should but our passing yards look terrible. We've essentially controlled every game we've played in this year but the Bucc's game.

I agree with you on the pass defense. Its not nearly as bad as the stats say but I don't think the rush stats are as bad as they should say if that makes sense lol.

We don't rely on turnovers every game, the offense gave up just as many as the defense gained and we still won.

I don't think the numbers are skewed that much at all. We're a year removed from the worst defense in franchise history. It's not all of a sudden some kind of juggernaut defense that some like to think a year later. Diggs is getting turnovers at an historic rate right now and that's masking a lot of bad defensive play. We're better than last year of course, but we're still not that good, and I still don't trust it at all. At some point Diggs is going to come back to earth and that 24 PPG we're giving up might turn into 30 PPG.

Their defense is ranked 13th.. their offense is ranked 15th.. Just sayin.. I think the main thing that separates Romo from Cousins is Cousins has the personality of a friggin clown. Nobody follows him.. whereas Romo energized the entire fan base as well as the team back when he took over .. He always had us able to believe we had a chance. I don't think Cousins has ever inspired that feeling.. And maybe he should with the way he is playing the last couple of years.. but he has that whole "You like that?" mess hanging over him...

I am not saying we are a juggernaut defense by any means. What I am saying is we have played with leads in most of our games this year and played prevent. Of course the numbers wont look as good. If we kept our foot on throats our numbers wouldnt be nearly as bad.

We're +7 in turnover margins. That's 4th in the NFL.

So, no, the offense is not giving up just as much as the defense gets.

No one believes that.. What folks believe, myself included, is that this defense is closer to reality than last year's defense was. THAT was the outlier, owed mainly to Nolan trying to make wholesale changes with no offseason program and no real training camp. Most of us believe this is a middle of the pack defense more than a bottom three defense... So we believe what our eyes are telling us. We know it's not going to be good enough to beat great offenses in the playoffs.. but we have 12 weeks closer to that level.

Well we can't say that, because until I see the team actually keep their foot on somebodies throat and dominate them defensively then I can't speculate that we're just going soft at the end and that's skewing the numbers.

Stats don't tell the whole story. Its worth noting their two worst outputs came when Cook was hurt. Did people follow Romo? His leadership took the same hit as Cousins does.

I have never been a huge fan of his.. He's always been a stat compiler and loser to me.. But upon further review I gotta give it up to him. He has now evolved into that realm where Romo eventually got to in 2013.. He no longer makes the fatal mistake that loses his team the game.. He manages the game pretty well now.. He throws the ball well and cannot be fooled very often. I still don't believe he's put the team on my back QB but it would be intellectually dishonest to not acknowledge what he has become. His passer rating is tad inflated because he runs the WCO but he's got weapons and he finds them. As long as Cook is in the lineup to keep the defense off him he's dangerous..

This isn't a Dak thread?

Yeah its the NFL. Cowboys are literally sitting their starters at the end of games lol. They are letting up and getting their guys off the field.

I'm just concerned with what happens when Diggs comes back to earth. Because he will.

Are the 24 PPG going to turn into 30 PPG?

Cousins doesn't have to keep taking chances desperately trying to regain the lead every time his defense turns around and gives up another touchdown. This was Romo's fate and might be Dak's too if the defense doesn't pick things up,,,

Romo took us to the playoffs three of his first four seasons as a starter.. I think that earned him a lot of faith from the fans and his teammates. It wasn't until the 8-8 threepeat under Garrett that his "leadership" really started to wane. Then 2014 happened and he became the unquestioned leader of the franchise. He was the reason we spent half of 2015 thinking he could come back and save us. Then ... you know.. he got old..
