A month and a half later... Was 2009 a successful season?

My answer yes:

Coming into the season last year we had ALOT of unknowns and let go of vets that had everybody arguing over whether or not we were doing the right things.

This team proved that they are. They broke the playoff drought and got that Dec/playoff game monkey off their backs. They put the team first and egos second and learned to win as team. They now know what it takes to get back to where they were and above all else they are left unsatisfied.

From all the recent reports JJ the GM seems to have the ship pointed in the right direction. He just put the players on notice that they shouldn't get comfortable. This year the goals for me are the NFC Championships or SB.

I thought it was a good season, nice to see the Cowboys back in the hunt. Hopefully 2010 will be even better.

It was a VERY successful season, imo.
The arrow is pointing up for our Cowboys.

Yes No Yes

I've battled many here last off-season with the "lets just win a playoff game mentality before we talk SB". I hated that BS. Of course we can't win a SB with post season wins, but the SB still must be the goal.

So I can't say it was a success since we didn't win it all.

It was nice to get that playoff win and to play our best ball in Dec. I never believed we had some fundamental flaw that made Dec success or a playoff win unlikely. But that fact was we hadn't won late in a long time and finally having that late season success to shut up the a-holes was very gratifying.

I vote for yes.

Another Loss and we would never hear the end of it. Not to mention Romo really needed that win. Not just to get the monkey off his back but for his confidence aswell.

We beat the Eagles 3 times in one year. Since when do we beat the Eagles like that? Usually we play them tough ONce and get our ***** whooped the next. We are the class of of the division.

I forgot one negative, Roy Williams proved he was not worth the 1st and 3rd rounder we traded for him.

I think last year was a positive step for the club. I think there were positives with guys like Jenkins, Austin, Free as well as the play of FA like Brooking and Sensebaugh. There clearly are areas we need to improve and do a better job in execution. I do however see this team as a legit competitor for a championship

Let me ask a question.

In Tom Landry's 30+ year career ...... was he only successful twice?

If you think Tom Landry was a failure for over 30 seasons ..... then no, the 2009 season was not a success.

If you think that winning the Superbowl (while always the goal) is not the only way to gauge a successful season, then yes 2009 was a success.

;)
