Every coach has to start somewhere, he likely understands blocking schemes which is atleast half the job of the RB. For the rest what's to say he can't learn in the offseason?

It's not gonna be just about the run scheme and holes ... it's gonna be about correct RB routes, catching and blocking techniques.

- Is there a different way in how RBs blitz block vs than what OL and TEs block ?
- Is there a different way in how RBs run routes .. than how TEs run routes ?

- This is up to McCarthy. This will be on McCarthy..... with this OL to RB coach move .. he personally has the inside goods on assistant OL coach Jeff Blasko
whose he's apparently known since his GB days. .

- And McCarthy has had coaching move change workings (for better or worse) in his GB days, as he's had guys like Joe Philibin move from
longtime OC ( in GB) ..... to OL coach here with Cowboys.
Horrible decision by McCarthy!

Joe Philbin proved his O-Coordinator experience in Green Bay does not translate to an improved Oline. I feel it's going to become the same with this Jeff Blasko move from Oline Asst to RBs coach. Unbelievable.

Except we haven't had a good experience with coaches that don't have prior experience at their primary responsibility.

1)I trust McCarthy more than I do armchair internet gurus, and
2)I consider it a waste of time stressing over possible doom that’s speculative at best, as well as something far beyond my ability to do anything about.

If this is just speculation, I’d rather think between McCarthy, Schottenheimer, Solari, and Blasko—they’ll figure it out.

I quit paying attention as soon as it is revealed purely an attitude and negatively directed.

I am concerned about RB run blitz protection
Zeke was a really good blocker
One of the best
But what they have to teach is blocking is about disruption not blowing people up
Zeke is a big guy but pollard and deuce have to learn it’s just about deflection
Disrupt the pass rusher not necessarily about blowing him up.

Every NFL team does not have a Zeke blitz blocker but how else do these manage to have their RBs do just decent enuff
to get by ?

You mentioned Deuce, .but this where the veteran Ronald Jones may come in handy if his blocking grades are decent enuff.

Jones is a solid vet who has seen it all. So while he may not be a great blocker he does know who to block

I tend to think that some fans want Ronald Jones to be dynamic .. .they want a more exciting name on the back of the jersey ... a past name that they are more familiar with...
like a Kareem Hunt or Leonard Fournette,.

I love having an OL coach work with the RBs. An experienced RB coach means nothing, how to take the handoff, how to move your feet, not fumbling, patience….blah blah blah.

1. You want the RB to understand the blocking of the play and the timing, as well as where is the most likely breakdown or change due to a breakdown or a defensive stunt and where to go.

2. You want the RB to understand the pass protection, what the OL is doing with the last second calls, and what his job is, how it may change, and most likely stunts from various formations.

Who can do that better than a coach who has proven himself the past 3 years as an OL assistant?
