I’m glad Zeke’s contract is gone, but it’s the passing game where we may miss him most. We want the OL to be better in pass protection this year, but even more important is the RBs being able to successfully replace Zeke in pass protection. If not, teams will be stunting and blitzing us much more and successfully.

wouldn't need RB to be an OL if the OL and TEs blocked better one of the worse pass rush win rates for an allegedly solid OL. Injuries didn't help but those TES out on the edge have been a reason for this bad stat. hopefully the new OC/OLC/play caller brings in a better blocking scheme for the front , bragging how great your RB blocks is sign of something not being right up front.

fans being worried about a coaching hire seems a bit of an overreaction, ill trust they made the hire for good reason and have better ideas who the coach is then a fan.

Don’t you think the two positions are the same when it comes to preparing the RB’s?

His training should help with watching the upcoming opponent’s game film with the backs and helping them identify tendencies and weaknesses in the front 7.

Besides that aren’t we the ones that are always saying the HC should hire all of his coaches?

Protection is key for the franchise, frankly. Don't allow Prescott be forced out with a serious string of injuries as was the case for Romo.

Jeff after he was told you are the RB coach

LOL, but he is going to be an assistant coach only, since Mark solari - OL coach and OC schottenheimer both known for running game coordinators.

Was this a smart move:

A new coach with zero experience coaching RB’s

Not only did the Cowboys lose the veteran presence of Elliott, but they also moved on from running backs coach Skip Peete after three seasons with the team. Replacing Peete and his 24 years of experience coaching in the NFL is Jeff Blasko.

Blasko had been the assistant offensive line coach in Dallas for the last three years, reuniting with Mike McCarthy after spending three seasons on the Packers staff. Like McCarthy, he’s a Pittsburgh native who got his start in the area before bouncing around to various high school and college coaching roles. Blasko was not promoted when offensive line coach Joe Philbin was let go, but instead reassigned to coach the running backs while also adding the title of run game coordinator.

It should be noted that Blasko has never coached running backs before, and this will be his first stint ever as the primary position coach. It’s a big jump to make in one offseason, especially with so much change occurring at the position as well.

Well, McCarthy says we're going to use the backs more in pass protection so maybe it's best we have a line coach coaching them.
