A new team is developing

yes every year a New team is developing well unless you are Tampa Bay...

but give n we played with team made up of mostly 3rd stringers last year this does look like a brand new team..same offense really

defense looks all new for sure..players, coaches, schemes, attitude hustle..

I think that someone like Parsons is a culture changer type of player. The willingness to do whatever it takes to win can be infectious. That's something we have needed to see for awhile. We have too many guys that come in and just fall in line with the no accountability culture already in place. We need guys to come in and rattle the foundations and built something new. Parsons seems like that type of guy and we can only hope that it rubs off on everyone else.

My biggest concern other than Corky at HC, is why we are having new injuries EVERY freakin' week.....what in the hell is going on???????

As I watch the many threads on our forum, it is clear that most of us fans have a “narrative” about what this team is and isn’t. It’s based on past performance. And that’s normal and understandable.

But I want to challenge all Cowboys fans to keep your eyes open to what this 2021 team can become. This team is the second youngest team in the NFL. On the current 53 man roster, 21 players were not on the team last year. That means that almost 40% of this roster is new to the Cowboys.

The truth is, it takes at least 6-8 games- maybe more- for an NFL team to develop an identity. With 40% of this roster being new to the Cowboys, give this team some time to develop into something. None of us really know much about this team…yet.
They are playing with heart but I want to see them stomp a team they should. I remember a season or so ago we had way to many shoot outs. Now we may have a better team than that year. We will see the next 4 or 5 games. 2 games isn’t enough. But the Defense is different.

I think the offense is fine, and the defense will get better as the season progresses. My concern is with the Special Teams. Can someone tell Pollard not to take it out of the endzone? I understand he's trying to get us some good yards, but the majority of the time he doesn't make it to the 25 yard line, and when he does, there's a penalty that puts us back "half the distance to the goal". It's frustrating.

Remember D-Law was or tried or wanted to be that guy.

When was this? When he refused to get surgery to hold the team hostage? You are a good poster, but I just don’t see it. Tank got paid and mailed it in and has continued to do so.

Dlaw anointed the defense prematurely. It's as if they were entitled to be stars because of where they played. All we had at the time was a bunch of QB pressures, and no holding calls in our favor for like 8 games. It was bs, but still they hadn't earned a nickname.

I like Dlaw, but that whole thing was annoying. I do think he's a leader and has a lot of clot though. I just dont want to see celebrating mediocrity, or 7 yards gains. That was the culture in years past.

IMO if Jerry Jones is still the owner/GM, we are doomed for another 25 years of wasted fanship. Boo you Jerry Jones and spawn of Jerry.

I'm not buy it. We have quality players and in my view a good coaching staff. I may not agree with everything Jerry says or does but in the end he has gone out and brought in some good talent and at the end of the day talent wins in this league.

I mean before the surgery. He played very well and wanted to be the man. But Your right, after the surgery…. Wait actually the year he held the team hostage and refused to get surgery and did nothing the following year because he wasn’t healed up. That’s when he lost my support. But before that he played well. Remember the lions game where he got 2 sacks to close the game out. We needed a player and he stepped up. Not since his surgery has he earned that money. I mean before that.

Again I mean the years before he got paid. Not since his surgery.

We know who we are on offense. It’s a high powered group with a razor thin offensive line. Any injuries on the line will derail us offensively.

I agree with you on defense as the personnel has changed greatly from last season.

Special teams we are comfortably below average. Our coverage units are maybe the worst in the league and it’s been that way for years.
don't think this holds up, we missed zack game one and now la'el for four more games. We've been fine. Multiple injuries to an offensive line i.e. last year with both LT/RT/OG/C injured will derail any team. Look at the ravens this year, they are struggling with a newer unit.

If I remember correctly, when Jimmy Johnson started going young with the 1990's roster is when they started kicking butt. I guess we'll see how this year turns out.
You remember correctly. They added some vets along the way like Charles Haley that really took them over the top.

Parsons has already made LVE and Jaylon play better.

Very good thread, now to pose this question - has Moore come out of no where with this play calling or has MM put him in a position to succeed?

I find it very odd all of us are anointing Moore when he's been on this team years past but give no credit to the head coach who was considered an elite offensive play caller - it's no coincidence this has had an affect on our game planning and matchups. Ceedee in the backfield is 100% a product of MM and what he used to do with Randall Cobb. I think MM doesn't get enough credit for how he has this team ready to play and how he's 1 upped Moore's bag when it comes to playcalling.

If someone asks me what I think of this year’s team, I would honestly have to say, “I don’t know what it is yet.” There are things to be excited about and problems to be concerned with. But it’s always funny to me to watch our fan base make strong declarations- either way- good or bad- about what this team is or isn’t.

Imagine working for a company where 40% of the workforce is brand new to the office. That’s kind of what it’s like for the Cowboys right now. And this team is the second youngest in the NFL. That is a good thing but can also have it’s problems too.

I want to give this team some time before declaring anything.

I think bones is telling him to run it out, which is unfortunate lol because a lot of mistakes are coming off of his units.

In 2016 we were the youngest and hungriest team in football. I was sure that we would contend for at least the next 5 years. Without the right kind of core players and the right kind of front office success can be very fleeting. I am hoping we get back to that. I am hoping we can sustain it when we get there. I just struggle maintaining hope with this team based on when I have seen lately.

Actually, what you've seen lately is two wins against some really good teams. Take heart and keep hoping for that to continue. ;)

Now that was a Defense. Got Haley and Sanders. What was our LB, Norton Jr. our DTs were good. If we had that type of Defense we would be fantastic with the Offense we have now.

Dogs....we finally have some dogs on defense

1. Parsons is an Alpha - something this team has sorely needed.
2. Diggs - a playmaker in the secondary. Complete opposite of our CB's in the past.
3. Wilson/Kearse - both play aggressive at SS and can be game changers.
4. Odighizuwa - plays with an attitude. When Gallimore gets back - look out for this group to make a jump.
5. Kazee/Hooker - Health, health, health - if they can both stay healthy - it's the best FS group since Woodson. Smart, aggressive and physical.
