One thing (and I think this is a fair-and-correct assessment) most fans ignore is the fact Jerry Jones anointed himself General Manager and President atop his status as owner. Point being, Jerry Jones would make money regardless if he was not the general manager.
Jones' intractability for being general manager is an issue existing between his ears. It is inflexible, managerial, philosophical problem much more deep seated than most have, are or will ever self-acknowledge.
It has always been my opinion that the only way to manipulate Jones into compliance is not through his wallet but by attacking his narcissism. Maybe that approach would not work but one thing has been proven over the past 2 1/2 decades. People talk about financial boycotts but no one has ever been seriously committed into creating a well-thought, long-term plan for accomplishing the net goal.
There have been hundreds of thread boycotts created on CowboysZone since its inception. The only difference between all of them has been the wording. In other words, they have (and will continue to be) all the same.
People say Jones is insanity personified for trying to gain success his way year-in year-out but netting the same results. How is his behavior different from 20-plus years of boycott scheming?
The difference is nobody executed any sort of plan. They've all talked about it, but nobody took any sort of action. I'm not suggesting that this time is different, bc it isn't, nobody is going to take action now either. And that's why no change will be in store. But that's the answer to your question.
