First off im 40 years old ive been a cowboy fan for as long as i can remember the reason why im a fan is when i was young they used to show them often in montreal so that how i became a fan. Now enough about me i think now a days a coach like parcels will never have a winning team why you might ask cause the intimidation factor and the bullying factor do not have its place in football anymore. The reason is the players are payed to well so they don't have to take that **** from an over the hill coach. I think the players are playing scared [for example julius jones thinks of not fumbling the ball instead of finding holes to run trough]and now a days its not the way to go.

Disagree that they paid too well = that they dont have to take any **** from Bill... the players want to be successful but Bill relies MORE on execution rather than matchups and mismatches... so when a play is not executed in our favor it leads to his patented "mental errors"

Agree that Julius is thinking too much and would rather be safe and run up one of his own players butt's than to take a hit and fumble the ball... Bill's fault there

They represent real Canadians as much as Uncle Jimbo and Ned on South Park represent Americans and Borat represents Kazahks.

Yes I know...but I loved their old skits and the strange brew movie.

Hey Dude, I'm also from Montreal and are about your age, what city did you live in I'm from Chomedey,

I understand what your saying but I have to disagree I think whats ruining the game are the RULES, You cant hit or intimidate anyone for that matter forget the QB , look at that horrible call on Tnewman last week, The NFL is starting to lose me as a fan with these rules, The gambling the fantasy football the pregame shows its all starting to take major focus away from the game. Just like the superbowl is this national event that everyone watches, but are rarely fans of the NFL. The NFL better watch what road they take because if they lose the core audience the may be in trouble, I think now would be a great time for another league to spring up and take the roots of the NFL and establish themselves, I just don't like this corporate monopoly of the NFL. I have been watching the league grow from the 70's and what I'm seeing now is a very bad product, I would to hear from so older guys on the opinion of what they think,

pass the labatts

Forget Labatts, that's like Canadian Budweiser. Give me Alexander Keiths, Upper Canada, or in a pinch, Rickard's Red.

Not Canadian, but I spend a little time in the capital most every year.

I used to live in Montreal, in Verdun. My dad was transferred out west in 1980 when I was 14.

I prefer Molson Ex to Labatt. Although my favs are Kronenbourg 1664 and Stella Artois (how European of me).

BINGO!The NFL has gotten to big for it's britches. It is worried more about Marketing itself and branding then about the game on the field. They seem to have forgotten that without a quality game on the field they have nothing to market or brand. That is the way it is though. The older fans like us will b!tch and complain but the younger fans who don't know any better will keep spending their money.BTWI don't live in Montreal but I go up regularly to watch the Habs play and to enjoy the cultural aspects of St Catherine St. OOH LA LA

Good point. Parcells believes that you do it this way properly, and it will work. How about game planning a teams weaknesses, and changing philosophy when 3 teams mimmick the strategy to beat you down?

Parcells, in this day and age is considered a good coach, not GREAT!

Totally agree. To further emphasize this… How much less effective would Lawrence Taylor be in today’s game? Remember when Erick Williams used to hit guys in the side of the head while pass blocking, it waould knock them down and it would all be legal? That was awesome. Roger Staubach didn’t want to come out of a game for any reason. There are very few tough guys in the NFL anymore. A lot of players would rather sit down on the bench if they are not 100% because it could screw up their next contract.

Now the rules are making them play less aggressively and you don’t have the great intimidators or the guys you truly fear playing against anymore. Now a days if you are a player you may fear getting spit on or a guy cleating you while you are down. I miss the days that we may see some fear and determination in the game.

The league is protecting their assests. Super Stars, will be protected, Quarterbacks, they think no team wants to watch the Colts play if Manning isn't in there.

The NFL, Must realize eventually, That the stars will come the cream always rises to the Top, Bledsoe goes down Brady arrives, Here name me 5 GREAT QB in todays game that compares to 10-15 years ago ( Aikman-Elway Kelly-Marino-Moon- all HOFers this is just off the top of my head, the eagles had Cunningham, the G-men Sims albeit it was the end of his career,)
feel free to add,
Today who Brady, Manning ( hasn't won spit but I will recognize him )
You cant add Farve cause he would count in the older QB list, The NFL is trying to generate Stars and promote and Hype scrape Its the old Smoke and mirrors act,

And as far as Defense is concerned What about Ronnie Lott, he would be outlawed in todays game, Its a Joke I could sit here and list guys for days and they would outshine todays best by far, I'm just disgusted with what I.m seeing today, For those of you who know what I'm talking about hopefully it will turn around, Keep your fingers crossed.
Go BOYS
