A positive Tyler Guyton thread

The young offensive linemen are the key to our future. I would bench Steele after the bye week and have Thomas play right tackle for the rest of the season. We need Steele’s cap space.
Completely agree and I like idea of moving Thomas to RT. At least a rotation of some kind to get him reps.

I think Guyton can be a good LT but will probably thrive at RT. Thomas looks more physically gifted and agile to me, small sample size though.
Guyton is clearly the more physically gifted. He's got elite feet and why he was a 1st round pick. Thomas is a brawler he doesn't have elite LT ability. He just battles every snap. He also played LT in college so he's more experienced there. He would make a much better RT with the skill set he has.

Thanks coach!

I am having a hard time liking it. I was out of town and only watched the first two drives. He had two pre snap penalties in the those two drives. One of them took us from 3rd and goal at the one yard line to 3rd and goal at the 6. We had to settle for a FG.

He has to stop the presnap penalties and holding. HE was near the top of the league in penalties last year and he is back there again this year. But, unfortunately, he is not the biggest problem on the OOL right now. Hoffman and Steele are both disappointing, and honestly, Tyler Smith has been a disappointment too. I am not sure what is wrong with Smith but we know he can play better. I think Beebe should provide a little upgrade over Hoffman. Steele is not getting any better. His run blocking is fine. But he whiff in pass protection more than is acceptable.

I have no issue trying Nate Thomas at RT, or even moving Guyton to RT and Thomas at LF, but I am not certain that is going to work either. Thomas should probably be a Guard. And he might have been had they not drafted Booker. I still think that was a regrettable draft pick.

If you've got the All 22 and you actually know what you're watching with Guyton, you would see that he needs to be much further along in his improvement level as the project left tackle experiment.

His last year's tape was catastrophic and he is beginning to look eerily similar again this year.
