The truth is, things don't look all that great at the moment. Not trying to be a curmudgeon, just looking at the reality of situation.

We must admit, this is all just par for the course. Dallas has been doing this for most of two decades, just slapping run-of-the-mill teams around during the regular season and getting heaps of praise from everywhere. Same old song a dance, version 2023.

You can virtually count the really big wins on one hand. At Seattle, a couple of Pittsburgh games, at Indy against Peyton, a couple of Saints games, perhaps. But for the most part, it's just handling business against rag-tag teams that don't mean much of anything in the grand scheme. This Cowboys team has failed to win a big game against a contending team in a long time.

Yes, of course, you have to win these games against losing teams and rack up wins; otherwise, you never get your chance to in January. Fair enough, and it's good to be on a roll of good play in this stretch. But really good teams don't give these games much thought outside of a good time on Sunday in the fall. They're just necessary steps to the real season later on. Ask Emmitt, Troy, Roger, and Drew about that.

Philly has all the tie-breakers because the Cowboys' losses are against NFC teams. KC could provide some help tonight, but I think the Eagles win that game against the struggling Chiefs, who are lucky not to be .500. The Eagles have two tough games these next two weeks, but finish with a cakewalk at the end while we play our toughest stretch against Seattle, Philly, Miami, Buffalo, and Detroit.

Dallas likely has to win at least 6 of their last 8 to even have a chance to pass Philly, whose bad loss was to an AFC team unlike our loss to Arizona. Again, can't just catch them; Dallas has to pass them. Injuries aside, of course, as is the caveat of any football season.

A wild card means a three-game road trip as the No. 5 seed against Detroit, San Francisco, and Philadelphia. Recent history doesn't give great feels about that.

Record in common games would be the likely tie breaker scenario for the Cowboys/Eagles which makes not only the game tonight important for Philly but the Bills, Seahawks, 9ers, Cardinals as well.

Not saying that it will happen, but I wouldnt rule out the Cowboys from winning the East quite yet.

The Vikings showed who they were and lost to the Giants in the playoffs.

We are not in a predicament - just same old , same old, Hard to get excited when Dak shows the same failings in Philly and Sf which have plaqued him in playoff games. Plays great 80% of all the other time but just cant put it all together to put together a postseason that will get us where we need to go. There are going to be probably 4 very good teams in the NFC side and all the QB's there will have better playoff results than Dak as far as depth into the playoffs!

Being one of the biggest homers and optimist here, I look at the positives mostly

The Boys have won 7 games to teams they were supposed to beat

The Boys have only lost 1 game to a lesser opponent, being the Cardinals and 2 games to teams they were supposed to lose to.

The Cowboys have gained ground on the Eagles and every game will be evenly contested until the last possession.

The Niners continue to be a problem matching up with.

The 5 game gauntlet upcoming , will answer further questions or cement long standing concerns.

Will the real Dallas Cowboys please stand up!

In this case, I'm going to be the contrarian.

The Cowboys have everything in front of them. They know what there weaknesses are, and they have been exposed. So the coaches and players now must scheme and do their best to cover up their weaknesses as best they can.

No, I'm not sure about McCarthy's and Quinn's game plans and schemes against tougher opponents either, and time will tell.

I don't think any of these NFC East teams look dominant, it's all about the matchups and schemes. So the Cowboys just need to continue to play well, stack wins, and improve. They can do it. Will they? We'll see.

But I don't think this team is in a "precarious predicament" at this time. It's just another football season with plenty of highs and lows (and the Cowboys have had more highs than lows). Just make the playoffs, try to get a home game, and then make sure you DO WHAT YOU DO BEST in the playoffs. Don't get conservative. If the passing game gets you to the playoffs, then scheme the best pass plays in the playoffs too, and go with what got you there. Attack the opponent's weaknesses, from snap 1.

If Detroit grabs the one, we won’t need to beat both Philly and SF, they will likely play each other.

If we win the 5/4 game, we would travel to Detroit and SF/Phil would play each other, unless one loses.

You aren't wrong, and this is about as fair and impartial of an assessment as there can be. As much as we all want to buy into the current hype, we do have to finally start winning against good teams. Hopefully there is something to this current offense, we stay healthy, and finally get over the hump. The simple concept of variance says we have to get to the NFCC at some point, lol.
