Had we drafted Bennett, Choice, or Scandrick in the 1st round last year......

Would you be happy with the talent they displayed enough to warrant that first round pick?

I would be happy with the end result but it still would have been a reach as far as drafting goes and it would have placed more pressure on these rookies as they could be under the microscope from day 1. As is they were brought along slowly with little fan fare. Felix Jones on the other hand was taken in the part of the draft most analyst felt he should but the expectation being placed on him are much higher due to the fact he is a 1st rd pick

No to all 3?

So if you had drafted Bennett in the 1st round and you needed a TE than you wouldn't be happy about the pick so far?

I'd be very happy with any of those three as a 1st round pick.

Scandrick was a flat-out stud in the slot. Loved his coverage plus his willingness to hit/tackle.

Choice showed that he can be a workhorse. He really stepped up after Felix went down and Marion got banged up. Outstanding games in Pittsburgh, vs. the Giants, and vs. Baltimore.

Bennett made plays anytime his number was called, including that sweet game-winning TD in Washington. Many of us (myself included) thought he was likely a bust after getting a taste of his "bad body language" and immaturity on "Hard Knocks". I'm glad to say I was wrong, at least for a year.

I don't see how anyone could be unhappy with any of these guys as a 1st round pick. Especially considering the reality that the draft is, in many ways, a crapshoot.

No, none of the 3 put up first round numbers.

Despite the usual 50% failure rate of first rounders?

Expectations are high on 1st round picks, but it is still a guessing game.

I would not have been happy with any of them as 1st rounders, because they would have been reaches. Even the Cowboys had them rated on their draft board as 2nds, or thirds. And they should follow their boards, otherwise all that scouting is for nothing. But that's why Choice and Scandrick got picked, really. The draft board had them as much higher picks for where the Cowboys got 'em.

No to all 3. I believe 1st rounders need to be starters at the very least, if not game changers.

Love all 3 players, though. All 3 could step in for starters at their positions, and I think we would be more than fine with them filling in.

Yes and I look fwd to them all getting more reps. Any of them could start for just about any team...

At the time of course not. Seeing what kind of players they are now?? Definitely. All 3 are solid NFL starters for years to come. It could be worse, they could all be Bobby Carpenter. What round did we take him again?

This thread explains a lot. I'd be happy with the talent displayed by all three. I'd be concerned about spending a first-round pick on an attitude problem based off of what I've seen of Bennett to-date.

Well exactly.

I thought that would be naturally assumed by most.

But if you took these guys in the 1st round you would have to be pleased with the talent they displayed and consider it 1st round worthy imo.

Just getting a solid player in the 1st round is hard to do now days.

If I didn't have a Tight End I would have no problem giving up a 1st round pick for Martellus Bennett.

His biggest flaw is he is goofy. Big deal.

Hes a willing blocker who gets after it and has shown flashes to just be a beast in the passing game.

Based on what I have seen so far, in hindsight, DEFINITELY yes on Scandrick. I'm not calling Jenkinsw a bust or reach just yet, and I think Scandrick is better and more versatile player than Jenkins at the present time. Yes on Choice as well, in that he looks like a better player than Julius Jones, but I'm thinking a 1st for Bennett be a little bit of a reach. I think Bennett is playing at the level of a mid to late second rounder right now.

His goofiness isn't a flaw. His attitude is a flaw. He's an amazing athlete and a good blocker. He can be a great player. If he ever is, though, this guy is going to be a handful. It surprises me that many don't see past the goofiness and the ability to see the insubordination and the signs of insufficient respect for authority.

Given the Cowboy's needs and his production, no. Hey it just my opinion. I'm happy with the pick overall, but not as a 1st round pick when we already had Jason.

I would have been pleased with Scandrick, probably to some degree with Bennett, but for a 1st rounder for Choice I'd have wanted more than a few games at the end of the year.

That said I think they all showed they have a great deal of talent and they'll all wind up looking like steals where we got them in the draft.

If I had an NFL team and I needed a TE and Bennett was rated as a first round pick... and I took him? Yes, I would be pleased with the player I got, what he can do on the field and his overall athleticism. His attitude would worry me though.

If I had a team and needed a RB under the same scenario, I would be happy with Tashard Choice, as well. The guy can do anything you want him to and he has the heart of a winner.

Scandrick, under the same scenario would make me happy as well. He played better than half the first round DB's that are taken every year and is only going to get better.

All of that is not taking into consideration that they could have been had later in the draft. I'm assuming you are talking about if they were rated first round picks and were taken in the first round. In that case, what we saw on the field was more than enough to justify their being drafted in round 1, IMO.

I thought Choice was worth of a 1st round pick before the draft. I certainly still do. I was totally shocked at how well Scandrick played. I think he's going to be an above average starting corner for a long time, so yeah that's definitely worth a 1st.

Bennett, not so much. The guy has great talent/size combo but still has a lot of work.
