The question has been asked many times, and has been asked in many different ways. So here it goes... again.

Do you feel that the state of the Cowboys, our teams future, will get worse before it gets better?

Depends on where the next draft goes. The additions made to the line are void of talent IMOP. Even if they gel, I don't see them any more than serviceable.

Fix the O line we get better, ignore it on the hopes this group can do the job we get lower.

We have to get a new coach before it gets better. New coach..same stupid problems.

why should it?

i thought we have a great owner/GM and the next tom landry for HC (who is in year 2)

so why would you think things will get worse before getting better?

Arrow isn't point down or up, it's just flat. 122-122, .500, 8-8.

Better than being terrible I suppose.

Either way, still winning.

yes, because Jones will keep the product mediocre until there are empty seats. Then he will hire another Parcells type to right the ship.

Dallas has been mediocre at best since Jones took over personnel decisions and will remain mediocre overall until a football guy is running the team instead of an egotistical oil guy.

Things won't improve much if any until Jerry hires a solid head coach and steps out of their way. If this doesn't happen soon things could get much worse before it gets better because Romo, Ware and Witten aren't getting any younger.

Romo and Witten may already be starting to show some signs of decline. Once the Cowboys need a new QB which may only be 2-3 years from now they may end up back where they were before Romo came along.

Coach ain't the problem bro. It's a lack of talent in the trenches thanks to a mentally incompetent general manager.

Unfortunately that may be the case unless he can keep adding attractions to the stadium that will keep fans filling the seats even if the Cowboys suck. The fascination with the stadium is keeping the fans coming even though the team is mediocre.

Won't get better until either Jerry is out of the picture or he decides that winning is the highest priority. the latter is the only way that the Cowboys' culture can change while he calls the shots.

I think it's hard to say whether we're going up or down for the ling term. Jerry has bungled up the most key positions of this team. He made Wade his HC when he's really a DC at heart, he made Garrett OC then HC, when he should be nothing more than a QB coach/offensive assistant in this league. Not to mention him letting a genius like Payton slip through his grasp, which probably led to his fixation with Garrett.

Jerry is a problem yes, but if he brings in a guy that can challenge him and say "I do things my way or i walk" then i think that can work, but the guy has to have success right away or Jerry will wrest control right back and look for a yes man.

We were building something while under Parcells, we had playoff teams and i think we had a clear direction we were going in. Wade took that team and had success with it, but we also lost our direction, we pretty much destroyed what Bill built when we brought in Pacman, Tank Johnson, and all of those other bad actors in '08.

I like the Players we've brought in under Garrett, Tyron Smith, Sean Lee, Bruce Carter, Dez Bryant, etc but i don't think he's the right guy or the right personality for this team moving forward.

My ideal coaching staff for this team would be Jeff Fisher/Jim Harbaugh at HC with Wade as DC and a guy like Sparano or Todd Haley as OC. Tough minded, vocal head coach with a stout defensive guy and a creative/dynamic play caller for the offense.

Right now i don't know, hopefully Garrett proves us wrong and turns this thing around for us but i haven't seen this team overcome adversity under him yet.

Instant gratification.

This teams problem has been the constant turnover at HC.

This program is in year two people are jumping ship wanting another change thus continuing the vicious cycle.

So the question we must ask ourselves is the problem really Jerry or us?

The short answer is no.

The long answer is that it probably doesnt and wont get worse before it gets better......but we need a little more 2012 evidence to be sure.

Outside of that, I will tell you what I do like about our near term prospects and that the arrow is pointing up...

1) Its clear that Jones trusts Garrett enough to be the architect of the team.
Jones will continue to talk to the media like a GM, but the football decisions will continue to be made by Garrett.

2) Some won't agree with or believe me, but I think you only need to look at our player acquisition track record since Garrett was named HC and compare
it to the most recent stretch proceeding his promotion.

I think it'll get worse before it gets better. We're headed back to the Campo days. We'll be lucky to win 5 games soon. Once Tony Romo and some of the other talented guys like Ware and Witten get too old to carry the team, the bottom is going to fall out. We haven't been good the past couple of years anyway, but it'll be hopeless when some of the talented players we've been depending on can't do it anymore. After a few years of the team getting plastered, maybe Jerry will come to his senses and get a football mind in here again to "fix it".

Yes, starting the rest of this season. Good chance it will always be on the downslide as long as Jerry is owner.

Well Garrett has been in this organization since '07 which would lead some people to believe he was a part of the problem during the Wade era and under him this team really hasn't broken through or shown any signs of doing so in the future.

Like i said, he's brought in some great talent, which is a great start. However my problems are:

A.) This team has never really overcame adversity under him, when we get beat up early(See seattle, chicago) we don't fight and claw back into the game.

B.) His game management skills have been very questionable. Last season he iced his own kicker which was unheard of before then, this season it seems like he's very reluctant to challenge plays, particularly spot calls.

C.) The team has often looked poor preparation wise and mentally, particularly on the offensive side. False starts, holding calls galore, crucial miscommunications throughout the game, uninspired play calling and more. This is a guy who prides himself on getting better via practice and preparation(see: it's a process) yet it's probably the worst thing about this team.

I really don't mind changing HCs when pretty much everyone and their mom knows he's not good. If this team clawed and scratched for every inch and didn't shoot themselves in the foot and still lost, then i'd say keep him, let's keep going in that direction, but we've been inconsistent and complacent at best while under Garrett.

How much worse can it really get? IMO, it's either the same or better from here.

Are you kidding me? What games have you watched? Completely not prepared, stupid penalties, and dumb game-planning continue to exist. Lack of discipline falls on the coach.

It's weird. Typically, i expect there to a be a meltdown if the team loses. Now i expect one if we were to win. I remember after the TB game. That was sad.
