Would you be surprised if Daniel Jones and the New York offense dramatically improved across the board next year and the team started being much more competitive within the division? Would you assess some of the improvement to Garrett?

Can you differentiate many sources of improvement? Is Jason's main gift at motivating and maintaining a consistent approach? Maybe he's not very innovative, but what if his offense with Jones at the helm seems more unpredictable and new? His fault or someone else's?

I wouldn't be surprised. Jones showed he has some talent. He also has a top RB, a freakishly athletic TE, a solid o line, and a top pick in the draft.

Garrett had some solid years in dallas as an OC, and has to be given some credit for progressing dak.

People can call him a joke all they want, but players have progressed under garrett, and hes won a lot of games in the NFL. It was time for him to leave dallas, but for a rebuilding team like the giants he could bring some value.

I think they will take a step forward. Garrett can make you playoff contenders. It’s just his top 10 offense typically looks nothing like a top offense when the post season roles around.

I won’t be surprised at all and I expect their offense to be better. Some (not all) of that success will be due to the Redheaded Jesus who has a positive track record as OC. Heck, JGs on the job training in Big D may be the glue that holds that new staff and team together.

I didn't think the offense looked poor in either 2014 or 2016. I thought the defense looked piss poor. To be clear I have no love for Garrett.

We averaged ~28 points in 2014 and then only scored 24 and 21 points in the 2 playoff games.

We did finally have a high scoring playoff game in 2016 against GB though. We had another one in 2009 against Philly, but we have typically struggled on offense with the season on the line.

Like when he was here.........improvements would be in spite of him not because of him............he may go down as one of the least knowledgeable head coaches in NFL history.

They had trouble vs Detroit in 2014 when Suh and Ansah were pretty dominant up front. Dallas moved the ball well vs GB in that game and had almost no answer defensively (plus the big fumble by Murray and catch/no catch for Dez). You can't score points while the other team is scoring points or driving.

He's still the best clapper in the division. So there's that.

That is interesting. One of the least knowledgeable... Are there stats on this or just hot opinions?

I fully expect the giants O to improve dramatically. Garrett will be a significant part of that. He did have some pretty potent offenses in Dallas. The Giants have a good QB, top RB, good weapons and an improving OL. Arrow up for the Gmen.

It’s only fair to give him credit if they do improve on the offensive side.

They won't though. There are so many on here that are this or that. Either it's Garrett's fault the offense would not work, or the players. There is almost no give and take.

I would not be surprised in the slightest. OC is different from head coach. Garrett is not a good head coach.

I predict they play a 50/50 brand of football and they will get better results then people are expecting and once they have a quality team built he will still play a 50/50 brand of football and people will say the results don’t match the talent.

I expect them to get better. They gave a lot of pieces in place. And the pieces they need are in areas where it’s not all that hard to make multiple marginal upgrades.

It’s also well established that I don’t believe the issues in Dallas have been related to coaching. The Giants could be a pretty good team.
