A ray of sunshine; can we help bury the Iggles at 0-2?

Ok guys..

I know we are all occupied about Dez and Leary and Gregory and their injuries and Hardy's suspension..

And I realize the media is trying to make this game a DeMarco Murray revenge game..

and most of the national media wants to write us off as being unable to play up to last year's results.

But I think you have to believe that since the Iggles had to play Monday night..

our guys should have an extra day to rest, regroup and be ready to get the opening night jitters behind us.

And I also think like GB losing Gordy Nelson for the entire year..

losing Dez for half the season shouldn't derail the entire season.

In fact I suspect quite the opposite.

I think we are on the road where we play well..

we are playing in Philly early in the year where cold weather is not a factor in their favor..

Romo will continue to utilize his other weapons..

we will control the clock, run the ball and take clear control of the division by Sunday.

Anybody agree?

There are tangible (for lack of a better term) reasons to think this is a tough game and the Eagles should win:

1) Dallas is down what essentially would be 4-5 starters - McClain, Hardy, Gregory, Leary, Bryant
2) Vegas has Philly as a pretty solid favorite with the line anywhere from 5 to 6.5
3) Home game for Philly and it's their home opener

But then there are some intangibles (again for a lack of a better term)

1) Dallas plays well in Philly (won the last 3 seasons there)
2) The motivation factor - Eagles might think it's a bit easier with no Dez and Dallas, knowing no Dez, comes out far more focused.
3) Short week for Philly having played a Monday night game

I suspect we will lose this game, personally. I always had us splitting with Philly anyway and down that many key players is a pretty big deal. That being said, if the Eagles can't beat an undermanned Cowboys team in their own building, that city might implode.

Assuming we don't cough up the ball I believe we can out score them...

Kinda this. I don't know about outscoring them, but I think we stay in the game. Now, if we can enjoy a +2 or +3 turnover differential, then that's the game, folks.

We handle Logan and Cox and that will level the playing field IMO. Their offense is dependent on yards after the catch so the boys defense needs to be disciplined and make some great open field tackles so the offense can grind away at the clock.

If history.... And now parity has taught us anything it's that...

0-2 is not buried... By any means.... 2-2 bam! Back in it....

0-4... I like that hole.... Becomes 1-5.... 2-6.... That's nice...

Looking forward to going into Philadelphia to play the all-hype team.

I know we have some key guys out and I know that a loss for them would be borderline disastrous for their cause even this early so they'll pull out all the stops.

I've just never been that impressed with that organization. We can move the ball on them even without Dez. If we hold on to the football and get the ground game going we'll win. It's that simple. Of course, it would be good to see us get some good sticks on that cupcake Bradford but I'm sure that'll be a focal point of our defensive gameplan.

Can't wait for the ballgame!

We Cowboys folk are a bi-polar bunch...I don't know how we would handle being 2-0.

I might self medicate no matter if we win or lose this Sunday. :D

Gonna be a tough game w/o Dez and Gregory. Is it possible yes but only if they stick to the run game and keep the iggles off the field. Would love nothing more than to see them sitting at 0-2....what a great start to the season that would be. maybe someone should post this article on the mannequin outside the locker room....

Hey Silver I got the faith, Cowboys play a better game, not all the turnovers and we beat these eagles bald !!!

Good point, our interior including Bernie have to handle those 2 and our Backs have to pick up blitzers because I think Eagles are going to blitz a lot.

It's not buried, but not all 0-2 records are equal either. In this case Philly would be 0-1 in conference play against a common opponent, and 0-1 in the division/head to head. Much better than 0-2 in non conference/non-common-opponent play.

Dallas also just plays well on the road in general, 8-0 last year I believe. Yes, it's a new year but most of the same players and coaches.

We didn't play that bad....common now!

Defense was great !! Romo played great, but three real bad turnovers- you take those turnovers away and you have a great game ! 2 of those turnovers turned into touchdowns right after the turnover or 1 down after the turnover. We play like we did without the turnovers -the eagles get a butt kicking !!!
