A ray of sunshine; can we help bury the Iggles at 0-2?

Week 1 NFC East Recap: Dallas backs into first | Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia
A guy called Eric Marmon explains why it sucks to be an Eagles fan, but also offers an upside.

The Cowboys are in first place, and for the 39th consecutive week, Dallas fans are feeling better than I am. That stinks.

If the Cowboys come to South Philly and knock Chip’s squad down to 0-2 without Dez, rest assured it’s only 155 days till pitchers and catchers report.

these are professionals who eat, sleep, breathe this game, do you really think 1 day is making a difference? The Eagles are going to play fierce and probably set the tone before we can. Who knows how Dallas is going to play this one out.
We Cowboys folk are a bi-polar bunch...I don't know how we would handle being 2-0.

I might self medicate no matter if we win or lose this Sunday. :D

we will be fine, the question is who do we like that week and who do we want off the roster?

Good point, our interior including Bernie have to handle those 2 and our Backs have to pick up blitzers because I think Eagles are going to blitz a lot.

I agree they cannot allow Romo to sit back there, he will rip them a new one even without Dez, the blitzes will be delayed and featured most of the time.

This is going to be a tough game
It would be a tough game if we didn't have so many guys out
But it's possible if we protect the ball and get a couple turnovers
Being 0-2 isn't buried but I do think if the Eagles were to struggle for a few weeks and go 1-3 or 0-4 that team will implode
Just doesn't seem to be great team chemistry there

Bernie's problem has always been consistency. He will in one game stone a Pro Bowl DT and in the next get taken to school by a JAG. Being this is his first start in a long time and he is going up against a top DT I think he will do well. Its the NEXT game I would worry about.

Sunday night all those who picked the Eagles to win the division are going to really question their thought process into that decision.

National media says Eagles the better team on paper.
I don't see it!
Starting to feel like Seahawks last year, no one giving Dallas their due.
No turnovers and the Boys win going away.

We will this game comfortably. This Eagle team is not as good as last years team Imo, and the media is buying it Chip's overhaul. Philly played against a weak Atlanta defense, as to our team turnovers killed us or we win very easily.

There are tangible (for lack of a better term) reasons to think this is a tough game and the Eagles should win:

1) Dallas is down what essentially would be 4-5 starters - McClain, Hardy, Gregory, Leary, Bryant
2) Vegas has Philly as a pretty solid favorite with the line anywhere from 5 to 6.5
3) Home game for Philly and it's their home opener
4) Playing Dallas at Home is their Super Bowl and their moron fans think the same

But then there are some intangibles (again for a lack of a better term)

1) Dallas plays well in Philly (won the last 3 seasons there)
2) The motivation factor - Eagles might think it's a bit easier with no Dez and Dallas, knowing no Dez, comes out far more focused.
3) Short week for Philly having played a Monday night game

I suspect we will lose this game, personally. I always had us splitting with Philly anyway and down that many key players is a pretty big deal. That being said, if the Eagles can't beat an undermanned Cowboys team in their own building, that city might implode.

Speak for yourself, and don't wake up dead Monday.

Philly game is a trap game, Atlanta Defense played lights out and beat the Kelly scheme by jumping all those quick dinks and dunks early on, then created pressure as a result. Chip Kelly came out in the 2nd half as usual and almost won it.

To me, the matchups are Defensive on both sides of the ball. The best Defense wins.

I sure hope they under estimate the Cowboys w/o Dez. Then the 'wounded tiger' theory comes into play. Here's hoping JJ rings the bell again. On Sproles.

We scored 27 against the Giants with 3 huge turnovers and missing our best WR for half the game.

We can score 40 points at will if we take care of the ball. Our defense finally have enough clout to slow down good offenses enough, we should win this one in a 38-28, 31-27 kinda fashion.

Agree. The bird fans are chomping at the bit for this one. They want revenge for last year, and to show off their new toy called " Demarco". A loss would be devastating

Agree. Philly born and raised but Boys fan all my life. To Philly fans there are 2 SB's a year besides the one they have never won. Those are " D Day" as it is commonly referred to.

Ok guys..

I know we are all occupied about Dez and Leary and Gregory and their injuries and Hardy's suspension..

And I realize the media is trying to make this game a DeMarco Murray revenge game..

and most of the national media wants to write us off as being unable to play up to last year's results.

But I think you have to believe that since the Iggles had to play Monday night..

our guys should have an extra day to rest, regroup and be ready to get the opening night jitters behind us.

And I also think like GB losing Gordy Nelson for the entire year..

losing Dez for half the season shouldn't derail the entire season.

In fact I suspect quite the opposite.

I think we are on the road where we play well..

we are playing in Philly early in the year where cold weather is not a factor in their favor..

Romo will continue to utilize his other weapons..

we will control the clock, run the ball and take clear control of the division by Sunday.

Anybody agree?

This will show us what kind of culture do we really have in the organization. How well we have drafted and built this roster. Dez is a vital part of our O and he will be missed however if we have the RKGs there should be someone to step up. I think now is the time for Escobar/Williams to shine. I also think the pressure should be on Lineham more so than the players. I know we have enough weapons to survive IF he can come up with the right scheme. Romo appears to be on top of his game so just employ the right scheme/plays and we should be ok. Run game has to be strong as well.
