A Romo Time Machine Thread

Tony would of won 4 superbowls in the 90's. He is better than Troy Aikman.

Troy was a bus driver. I'm sure he could of been more of a.gunslinger but Tonys proven that his whole career and Troy hasn't. Give Tony an Emmitt Smith and a great defense and he would have plenty of rings.

personally i think you should be banned for the first post :D

but after reading your username, i think i can understand that player evaluation is not your strong suit

The way teams played defense back then Tony wouldn't be the same qb he is now. That might be a good thing though. Less chance for him to turn the ball over. Still I don't think he'd be better than he is now. I know that Staubach and Aikman were clutch. I can't picture Tony outplaying Bart Starr and that Green Bay Packers defense in the 60's either. It was just a different game then. It's hard to compare different eras.

QBs have ridiculous numbers in this era because the rules have been adapted to allow for passing and offensive explosions. You rely saw a 300 yard game in the 80s and early 90s, while it's a norm. 280 in that era on a consistent basis was great.

I've always said that Troy did the things necessary for us to win 3 Super Bowls. That's all that really matters.

I also have always said that when the Cowboys were good but not great (10-6 or 9-7 playoff teams that are more comparable to what Tony had had than the HoF-lined rosters) that Troy sucked horribly in the big games. I hate it, but he did.

What made those teams so great was that they were so balanced that we never had to be in these games that our crybaby fan base is complaining about with Romo. In 92,93 and 95 we were 9-0 in the playoffs with a ridiculous margin of victory. Troy never had to lead a game winning drive with 2 minutes left, he was on the sidelines with a smile on his face watching Leon Lett fumble the ball. Great teams avoid "clutch" time altogether.

Troy was a good QB. The trade with the Vikings is what setup Jimmy with the picks he needed to build a super power. Troy could have and did win games when called upon but Emmett and that o-line were not giving Troy many chances to show it. Troy couldn't have won with the current Cowboys because of his lack of mobility. Tony would have been bored to death playing in the 90's era.

Wait just one GDS......how do i purchase this so called " way back then machine " ...??????

Romo hasn't gotten it done in THIS era... an era where QBs and receivers are more protected than ever.

On the flip side, I bet Troy would have won at least one ring with this core group of players. Aikman in today's era would be an amazing quarterback. Some people look at numbers and assume that Aikman wasn't a good QB, or a bus driver; if you will. In Troy's offense, he really never got to show his ability as a passer. If he played in Dan Marino's offensive scheme, he'd put up similar numbers.

Aikman with TO, Miles, Dez, Witten, etc. would be amazing to watch.

Romo choked in High School.
Romo choked in College.
Romo choked with Parcells.
Romo choked with Phillips.
Romo chokes with Garrett.
Anyone see a pattern?

No Super Bowls for Romo regardless of team, era, or coach. He is what he is.

Stay with reality.

This thread has to be a joke. Romo couldn't carry Troy's jockstrap. Romo is a borderline top ten QB in this league. Troy us a HOF QB. Romo has inflated numbers due to the rule changes in the game and is a stat QB, every stat except the one that counts. Troy was a leader that won in the biggest games. I honestly don't think some of you young guys know what real leadership from a QB is. Troy would have had Brady type numbers in today's game. He was one of the smartest and most accurate QBs in NFL history. It is a foolish statement to call him a bus driver. The Romo love on this board is sickening. Tony is a good QB that has melted in the spotlight, and he is not close to being a HOF QB. This younger generation really makes me wonder about their future sometimes. It is looking bleak.

I still literally laugh out loud when I read these types of comments when comparing Romo to Aikman. The sad part is, I think some people actually believe it. Troy Aikman did what he was asked to do. Make no mistake, when he had to throw his way to a victory, he was an absolute surgeon....especially in crunch time......Unbelievable!
