A Rookie QB couldn't lead us to a championship?

Only 4 Rookies in NFL history have led their team to a conference championship game.
Shaun King in 1999, Big Ben in 2004, Flacco in 2008 and Sanchez in 2009. All fell short of making the Super Bowl.

Here's a list of Rookies who made playoffs first year .

Elway
Marino
Kosar
Dieter Brock
Big Ben
Matt Ryan
Flacco
Sanchez
Dalton
Wilson
RGIII
Luck

Nevertheless it's not as far fetched as I realized when I begun researching this issue which someone had told me it's ridiculous to expect a Rookie QB to take us to the promise land which if he meant Super Bowl would be correct but a much bigger list than I expected to be in playoffs contending for a championship .

Some kind of QB should be able to do it, there's usually one every year.

We have a top 5 QB and and people are wanting to start a rookie 4th round pick. Please for the love of god. This is why people think Cowboys fans are stupid.
That was not the intent. More of an informational thread as I was surprised .

Of course if he's healthy and or available but the reason I posted this is I was surprised how many actually have had some success as Rookies which provides us hope in the event Romo goes down .

As matter of fact most of those Rookies took over after an injury starting as few as 9 games , most 10-15.

Odds are we wont make the playoffs let alone go to the Super Bowl if Dak is starting more then half the games. It's nothing against Dak, but there are too many growing pains for a rookie QB to expect that

with the OL and skill players on this offense, i can't see why a rookie couldn't get us to the playoffs. If we were talking about a team like the Browns or Eagles, i would seriously doubt it.

Without more help on the defensive side, It's not happening. We can hope for some kind of breakout from a player like Mayowa, but our defense is not ready yet.

I think you need to look at the defenses of those 4 teams.

I bet in every case the defense was by far the strength of the team....and probably even the very best in the entire league.
Night and Day comparison.

The title should have read starting QB was a Rookie.

"Leading " their team didn't mean to imply was reason team were in playoffs .

Oh, I get it. Didn't mean to seem snarky.
I was just pointing out that their situation and Dallas' this year are entirely different.
For a comp for us this year, we'd have to find a team with a bad defense or maybe average at best that has made it to the SB. And there never has been anything close to it.

The research is much appreciated anyway.

Why does a rookie need to lead us anywhere?

I think the assumption is that Romo will not finish the season or will not be effective. If you look at the history of Romo he's missed 24 games since being named a starter. That is 1 1/2 seasons, but does it tell the entire story? No. Most of the injuries have been the clavicle. However, he looks slower and stiffer...but it's preseason and he's up there in age. What he's lacks in movement, he makes up for in knowledge I would think.

However, I will admit, I prefer youth and obvious talent when I see it. or should I say "it" and Dak seems to have "it"

I think most people are speaking as though Romo will be injured this year. After watching Romo writhe in pain on the ground last night, it's hard to blame them.

Sorry buddy I didn't see this post, it's exactly my point and is more concise. lol

Interesting you used the word "Odds." Because that is an accurate statement based on the OP. On the other hand, Dak isn't a typical Rookie based on what we've seen thus far, so if anyone could defy those odds, my guess is it would be Dak...especially with the offense he would have around him...

I found it almost comical when people thought he could be considered the QB of the future..... So im gonna try to be gray as possible.

Or maybe I should just straight say " he wont" and brace for the huge turd in my chest. If that turd comes in the form of a Super Bowl, then turd me up
