A sad statement on the Cowboys

With TO clearly not a big threat, and Crayton never being one, and TG also not really able to scare anyone, the Giants decided to load up and play tight and we were unable to make them pay. Add to that our O line with 3 PRO BOWL players got its lunch eaten late in the third and all the way into the fourth qtrs. They were frankly humiliated. Maybe they ran out of gas; I don't know= but they STANK IT UP.

I was just looking at the NFL stats and realized that of all the teams in the playoffs, the Cowboys had the best total defensive numbers and the best rushing offense. Of course, I realize that this is only one game but still, we rushed for 154 yards, we gave up only 230 yards total, against the team that is representing the NFC in the Super Bowl, and we lost.

The Giants averaged 327 total yards against GB and Tampa. Against us, we held them to 230 total yards of offense. The Giants defense gave up an average of 48.5 rushing yards per game against Tampa and GB. We put up 154 yards on them.

They are in Arizona and we are sitting home. It's a hard thing to accept.

What's even worse it that was probably our best defensive effort all year. With the exception of that 45 second TD at the end of the first half (where the Giants targeted Jacques Reeves). Our D held them to how many 3 and outs in the fourth quarter?

We had our chances and we blew it. We have to move on and improve . . .

Dropped balls negated ALL.

I'm sad about it but I've been far more hurt by a loss than this one. Far more.

94 NFC Championship is the worst loss by the Cowboys in my entire life. At least from how much it hurt.

The second one to that was the loss to Carolina in the divisional round of the 96 playoffs.

And, of course, if I were old enough to have seen them those two Superbowl losses to the Steelers would no doubt rank right up there.

The Giants didn't know we outplayed them when we beat them twice during the regular season. Some of them kept insisting they were the better team. Then we outplayed them a 3rd time, but somehow lost.

They know, They know it might not read it on the scoreboard but they got smashed in the face by our run, Yeah , the brain trust with big mouths who think there the greatest thing in the NFL deep down in the cockles of there tiny little black hearts know.,

Our offensive line wasn't really doing anything the first half. Barber was breaking his runs to the outside, and the OL wasn't creating anything for him.
The Giants just stacked the line after that and blitzed. That is why Marion Barber was pretty much stifled in the second-half.

Now that I think of it, Dallas' game may have been to rely on the run-game, because our receivers clearly weren't themselves. They couldn't get the push they wanted. The Giants may have realized this and adjusted, and key'ed in on attackign Romo and stopping Barber.

Blame our OL and Tony Sparano... Be glad TS is gone....

Total BS. Oline was knocking them off the ball in the 1st half and a lot of the 2nd half. Barber was totally gassed. Period.

GOOD POST!
I knew the numbers and feel they support my theory on this loss.

It's an abberration. A fluke. It just happens sometimes and there's no good reason to blame paticular coaches, paticular players or the organization as a whole.
One or two fewer mistakes or bad/incorrect calls and we win.
And if we do win all the mistakes are forgiven.

I feel like too much of our focus has been on our mistakes and not enough on the bad calls.
I know that's the constructive thing to do. The best way to get better.
But I truely believe the actual play of the team was good enough to win.
I feel this was proven out by the stats.
The reason we lost this game was we got too many bad calls.
Did we make mistakes? SURE! So did the Giants.
Every team makes mistakes in every game.
Not every team gets crushed with calls the way we did.
And it wasnt just this game. All year the poponderence of bad calls have gone against us. Cant say why, thats just how it went for us.

I'm not suggesting a conspiracy. I'm chalking it up to bad luck.
We deserved to be in Arizona this weekend. It was stolen from us.

Sorry, not buying it. The game wasn't stolen, it was given freely. :(

Uh, no... You have got to be kidding me if you think ther were knocking them off the ball the second half. Were they knocking them off the ball the last two drives of game, when needed most, when Tony was running for his life?

As soon as the Giants started stacking the line in the second half, Barber became ineffective PERIOD. Even TO was mentioning he got behind the DBs a couple of times, but there were breakdowns. What does that mean other than Romo not being given time?

Watch the tape again, especially in the first half. Barber was breaking his runs to the outside, and he was getting hit, but still going. Even Troy was talking about how Barber breaks incredible well outside, when there is nothing there.

If Eli had turned the ball over in any of their playoff games, the Giants probably would have lost.

He's moved from "Suck" to "Not destroying his team's chances" in 4 years. If he takes the next step to "average/decent NFL QB", watch out, 2012 NFL.
